Yeah best wishes to him and his family but still seems strange that Lameriello would say this;

Lou Lamoriello: "It is my role to make the best decisions for the organization going forward and I believe that this group of players needs a new voice." #Isles

I don’t really understand the point in keeping all of what this new speculation is saying a secret. Why not just say he needs to be close to his family rather then telling the world you’re firing him because the team needs a new voice? That’s classier? Meh doesn’t make a bit of sense. If that is actually the case has to be one of the worst PR moves I’ve seen since Wang fired smith and hired snow

Lou did admit during the conference call announcing Lamberts hire as coach that the "new voice might not have been the correct choice of words." Listen I get it we are all speculating here. Maybe over analyzing things at times to figure it out. We may never know what the true reason is.

I read the quote upstate posted it. He was clearly referring to Lambert still being a new voice even though he has been around the team for the last four years. I think everyone wants to understand why it happened I get it. Who knows maybe it is true. None of us know and that’s the only thing I do know about this situation. With that said it doesn’t matter at this point. I’m done with this conversation three or four pages dedicated to this is enough

Since Lambert is a Trotz disciple, I'm curious if he's going to keep the defensive system or try to open up the offense. Of course, if he wants to be more up tempo or offensive then we need to bring in a couple more weapons.

I believe he’ll try and do both…

I'm thinking some sort of adjustment. I'm not expecting the Cappy and Doug system but something so the goalie and defense do not have to be perfect. Lane has to be his own coach.
- ses111

I’m pretty certain the focus is going to be on a structured defensive system but I think it’ll be a bit different as far as the offense goes in relation to trotz’s system.

Wondering if we'll see some sort of hybrid. Something that affords them a little more creativity in the offensive zone and gives the young guys a bit more rope to work with while still maintaining that structure in the defensive zone

This is my thought as its hard to play the style trotz put in and be successful over 82 games. The caps did it but they had ovie Kuznetsov oshie Backstrom in other words high end talent that could capitalize (see what I did there) on their chances more than the isles

I think it’ll be something along those lines. Lou said there will be more of a focus on developing the young talent. Not sure if that was an aspect of trotz’s tenure he wasn’t happy with but I expect a more uptempo kind of system.

Yeah and it's going to be important to develop the young guys. There's not much in the way of talent in the system and we need the young guys that we do have to contribute. None of this is even worth discussing until we see how much surgery Dr. Lamoriello performs on the roster this offseason though

Puts the BS that the players trashed Barry during exit interviews to rest. Comical really.
- nyisles7

That was crap from the start... Since everyone from Preds org through to Caps thinks the guy walks on water...

I would to have him in Anaheim... Boot the swarm..

In a Cap world you better be able to count on young talent. You need to be able to count on players from Bridge when needed as well. It's not the say you will call up all stars. They have to be able to help though.

Very curious to see what Lou does this offseason, I'm really wondering if there won't be some changes that none of us saw coming.

Could be some surprises. Lou has gone after some big names like Panarin in the past so I'm sure he knows the teams need more scoring. Hopefully Salo gets a good look on defense. I'd rather give a shot to a promising young player over an average FA signing.
- ses111

Problem is going to be cap space. They may have to jettison Beauvillier and Bailey if they're going to add 2-3 higher-end pieces.

If there are major changes I’m sure there will be some that none of us saw coming. That’s how Lou operates.

Not to worry, Barzal is working diligently on trade scenarios for Lou.

Obviously, I meant more in the sense that we may see him ship out someone that nobody thought would ever be moved.

If Beau was on another team you guys would be dying to trade for him... He's 24 years old and is a 20G scorer who has had huge goals for this team in important games.... but yeah.. Let's "Jettison him".. lol.

Islanders have $14 mill in cap room this summer. Dobson is only guy they really have to sign.. IF they need more than the $9 mill left to sign or trade for someone they can move Bailey or Varly. Beau isn't going anywhere..Unless it's for a big asset in a trade.
