Yes, they definitely need an upgrade. It would be nice to have a 4th line that is physical and has some skill. Fletcher has a lot of work to do.

I heard this segment last night with Marek and Friedman, and I just had to shake my head in disbelief, knowing that they've been sitting on their hands for 6 months.... if only they exercised such patience and conducted a thorough search when it came to hiring the general manager, or when rebuilding a roster.

zac doesn't make the flyers harder to play against. In fact I argue he makes it easier.

Well lets look at the current options:

Dallas - veteran team with 4 forwards making over $6M per, an aging defense, shoddy goaltending and not much in the way of up and coming young players

Detroit - good young team with lots of draft capital, but may be too young for a coach like Trotz at this stage of his career

Vegas - veteran team built to win now, capped out, ton of NTC contracts, no up and coming young talent to be found and an ownership that has proven to be more than impatient with their head coaches over the past few seasons. Might be a destination for Trotz if he likes the bright lights, however Trotz does not come across that way to me

Winnipeg - definitely a team that has top end talent and is built to win now, also has good draft capital this year. Plus Trotz family lives in Winnipeg, definitely seems like a good place for Trotz to land, however he has never coached a Canadian team and had to deal with the many restriction from what has become an oppressive Canadian government.

Chicago - They're a mess IMO, highly doubt Trotz would go there

Edmonton/Florida - possibilities if they decide to not to drop the interim tag from their current coaches, but both coaches IMO should have done enough to stay at the helm.

So IMO, Winnipeg is the only current option for Trotz that I think may be better for him than the Flyers, so that means the Flyers are a serious option.

I asked Who can offer more money than the flyers? I also asked do other teams have a coaching budget.

So money can absolutely be relevant if 1 team offers 4 million and another offers 7. 5 year term. That is 15 million diff. Not sure what world you live in where that isn't relevant.

Vegas is a loaded team with vet players that could contend immediately for a Cup.

Detroit has a some solid young players and they have one of the best GM's in the league.

So there aren't any positives for Chicago moving forward.
