Then don't be a stain and try to do it on the thread where that conversation is happening. If you want to discuss that play with me.

Cliff he can do as he pleases.

He’s physical, he can fight, he has decent hockey hockey skills and can skate….he’s just not very good.

Stop with this please. He adds no value. Flyers hockey baby.

Do you know how many teams play that way defensively in the NHL? By design in their systems play? Most of them! You repeatedly make these statements thinking that this is one of your beer league teams. Please learn systems play.

Back to the systems play. Cant deviate from the "systems" play even if it is warranted.

Any plans tonight Cliff? Or solo ?

Trotz headed to Pats or Genos? Probably both

After Matt Patricia won a super bowl with New England as their defensive Coordinator, the Detroit Lions hires him to be their head coach for a couple seasons. The Lions tried to do things that “New England Patriots Way”. The Lions even brought over former Patriots players. Of course it failed. The Lions are still the Lions. My question is, what about The Minnesota Wild was ever so great, we have to take from them and bring it here.

You mean you don't like constant mediocrity? Speaking of the Wild, I'm interested to see how those buyouts play out with their decision making. Those numbers are ugly.

If he chooses Delassandro's he should be hired on the spot.

In your view…yup…got it. I’m not particularly concerned with the bottom six. The Flyers could ice two teams of bottom 6 forwards. He brings everything I said. He’s just not very good.

Let me ask you something, are they really that handicapped by the buyouts? If both players stayed what is their cap hit 15 million plus? It would business as usual no?

The buyout saves them a few million which they have to use to replace those 2 players on the roster. So at the end of the day the cap hits are the same if they get 2 league min or so players as replacements.

Or am I looking at this wrong?

If he brings all that you say then why isn't he very good? Seems odd to have all that talent you claim he has and not be good.

He can do all those things…but so can a lot of players. HE’S JUST NOT VERY GOOD AT ANY OF THEM. He is not devoid of talent. He’s a tweener talent in my view (same as Seeler by the way). A solid AHL player who can play in the NHL, but shouldn’t be relied upon for extended periods.

Ideally for the bottom 6 I would love guys like Laczynski and Allison be able to take spots. Problem is they both need to prove they can stay healthy. That's been the issue.

No you're right. I think the buyouts were more so about just getting rid of those two guys and moving on than worrying about the cap. And they have guys like Boldy and Rossi that will be playing on ELCs for the next couple of years. I think it'll come into play more so in the 2024 offseason when guys like Dumba (a possible trade candidate) Boldy and Addison need new contracts. I think the only casualty this year will be Fiala, but it seems they don't really want to pay him anyway.

Add in Noah Cates as well. He really impressed in his short stint as well.

Parise is done so I get that one. Suter still good though apparently he was an issue. Not about his play.

The Flyers don't need to look for anyone. They have plenty of young players to fill the bottom 6.

For sure, hexy drafted a few of bottom 6 guys. We need more top 6 guys

Not worried about Laczynski staying healthy yet. Seems like Allison is never healthy and as soon as he is, he's hurt again. It's been a constant even through his college days. So, it'd be nice to have him but they have to have a plan for him missing alot of time.

Same with Ellis. Can't rely on him being your top D, because even if he plays, he's probably going to miss at least 20 games based on track record. And while many would be happy with Ellis playing 55-60 games, what 20-25 is he missing, down the stretch battling for a playoff spot?

Why can't you have a conversation without insulting people? This has nothing to do with how my beer league plays. Recall I played hockey up though HS and again I never been part of a defensive system, even one that is man to man coverage, that advocates both defenseman being behind the goal line when you do not have puck possession. In the past I have even posted man to man coverage systems that make this point crystal clear; you cannot leave your slot uncovered! Whether you like it or not, you are going to have to accept that in this example, Weeger made a very undisciplined decision and it cost his team the game.

That was the problem with Hextall's drafting philosophy, he played it too safe. Hextall didn't like high risk, high reward type players. He valued high hockey IQ and 200 foot players. As a result the Flyers seem to have a lot of 200 foot players that lack top end skill and speed and thus the mix is not right. It doesn't mean Hextall is a bad drafter overall, because he did draft some good players like Provorov, Farabee and TK, but no players that have a true top end ceiling and that is killing the Flyers right now.

Seeler always tried.
Maybe a solid coach/teacher/
Can help him become a decent hockey player.
I feel the same for zac,
He always at least seemed to give two sh1ts shift in shift out. Stone hands but maybe with some work he can devolop.
One can dream during this nightmare!!

You're wrong all counts. What you're claiming is not the case. For someone who watches hockey as much as you say you do. You should recognize that in the NHL, both defenseman go behind the net all the time. This repeated idea you have that a defenseman parks in the slot does not exist in the NHL. Weegar made the correct decision to go and challenge one of the top offensive players in the league behind the net who was uncovered. The mistakes made on the play were the turnover at the blueline and the weak side forward failing to skate and move down low one the puck moved behind the net. Defense is a team game
Florida's inability to score more than one goal is what cost them the game.
