You're wrong all counts. What you're claiming is not the case. For someone who watches hockey as much as you say you do. You should recognize that in the NHL, both defenseman go behind the net all the time. This repeated idea you have that a defenseman parks in the slot does not exist in the NHL. Weegar made the correct decision to go and challenge one of the top offensive players in the league behind the net who was uncovered. The mistakes made on the play were the turnover at the blueline and the weak side forward failing to skate and move down low one the puck moved behind the net. Defense is a team game
Florida's inability to score more than one goal is what cost them the game. - MJL
No he didn't.

Dumba would make a nice plan B in case Ellis does not recover - jd250
Thought he made more sense last year given the obvious Fletcher ties. I don't think even Fletcher would want three RHD all making over $5 million. Plus he needs to be re-signed and who knows what Minnesota's asking price is. |

Who knows if he was even available or what the cost would be but Dumba would've been a better choice than Ristolainen.

Not worried about Laczynski staying healthy yet. Seems like Allison is never healthy and as soon as he is, he's hurt again. It's been a constant even through his college days. So, it'd be nice to have him but they have to have a plan for him missing alot of time.
Same with Ellis. Can't rely on him being your top D, because even if he plays, he's probably going to miss at least 20 games based on track record. And while many would be happy with Ellis playing 55-60 games, what 20-25 is he missing, down the stretch battling for a playoff spot? - rayc16
This just in Allison hurt himself fishing.
He tore his rotator cuff going for a long cast. He’s out till after training camp. |

They saw Fletcher as a puppet and made the move. Goal was to make playoffs and get that money ! He did that just fine over there. - ClaudeFather
No argument but nothing Fletcher did in Minny, warrants bringing players and personnel here. |

Seeler is awful. He’s the 7th defenseman. So that means with all the typical Flyers injury BS, he will play 40+ games. Waste of time. |

In the FL game, anyone else notice the fan rocking the Flyers jersey behind the goal to the right (the Panthers goal for the 1st & 3rd)? He was about 5 rows up, pretty much right behind the net. Just wondering if anyone made out who's jersey it was. |

Why can't you have a conversation without insulting people? This has nothing to do with how my beer league plays. Recall I played hockey up though HS and again I never been part of a defensive system, even one that is man to man coverage, that advocates both defenseman being behind the goal line when you do not have puck possession. In the past I have even posted man to man coverage systems that make this point crystal clear; you cannot leave your slot uncovered! Whether you like it or not, you are going to have to accept that in this example, Weeger made a very undisciplined decision and it cost his team the game. - jd250
But they didn’t score goals
But they didn’t do this
But the whole game of plays blah blah ducking blah.
YOU ARE CORRECT THE PLAY IS TO PROTECT THE SLOT!!!!
BEER LEAGUE
ROLLERHOCKEY
LACROSSE
SOCCER
Only in that wizards brain do two players go behind the net to cover a world class player.

Wow, just saw this stat. The Cats are 0-25 on the PP thus far in the playoffs. You aren't making a long playoff run with those stats. - Phillywhiteout

You mean you don't like constant mediocrity? Speaking of the Wild, I'm interested to see how those buyouts play out with their decision making. Those numbers are ugly. - TobyFlenderson
Let’s just say Fletcher did come from a successful franchise that he still has ties to. Let’s say he helped build the late 90’s, early 2000’s Red Wings or the 2010 Hawks or was Yzerman’s right hand man in Tampa. Only at that point I would understand bringing in players from those organization over. Chuck Fletcher was never apart of that kind of success. What exactly has Mike Yeo, Nick Seeler or Chris Stewart done for us exactly? |

If he's the 7th and you're counting Ellis in the top 6, I'll take the over on that 40 games bet. |

The 7th defenseman plays every time there is an injury within the top 6. Which means they play a lot. |

Totally agree. He will not be blocking anyone. The Flyers will not have a prospect sitting in the box just to have a 7th dman.

The key part of my sentence that you fail to acknowledge is both defenseman should not be behind the goal line when you don't have possession of the puck. I don't disagree with you that in the end when you score only 1 goal in the game and you haven't scored on 25 straight PPs, that is more of a reason that Florida lost this game than this one play by Weeger. And I also agree that blaming one player or one play for the outcome of the game is silly. But that does not negate the fact that Weeger made a bad play there and clearly was not aware of the situation. And the TNT hockey "experts" agree. |

Totally fine with Seeler being a popcorn server in the Comcast suite however with the amount of moves they have to be looking to make this off-season it surprises me that they’d fill a roster spot with essentially an injury backup player before keeping the roster spot open for who knows what may be available in the summer. |
