Listen, I don't believe Fletcher is incompetent as you do. I actually like him and want him to succeed. I don't believe that the Flyers are going to pass up on a chance to get a coach like Trotz because of some artificial timeline, and the FACT that Trotz is coming for an interview with the Flyers means Fletcher is not passing up the chance. So Marek is wrong. Period. - jd250
You're stating that Marek is wrong based on your beliefs. Which certainly aren't factual. It remains to be seen whether Marek is correct or not.
It comes back to the same thing. What is there to like about Fletcher and his performance? You seem to equate criticism of Fletcher with not wanting him to succeed. Another flaw in your failed logic.
And as I predicted, Carolina lost their 4th straight road playoff game. They got behind and could not count on another lucky/bad goal against from Shesterkin. This series will go back to Carolina tied 2-2, and the Rangers still have a shot at winning this series. Carolina is not that good, they do not have the high end players to beat teams like Tampa. Oh, and that's right, it will be Tampa over Florida, just like I also predicted. Pretty good for only 2%. - jd250
What happened to your prediction in game 1 of the series when Carolina came from behind to win?
Congrats. You predicted the two time defending Cup champs to win a playoff series.

Should we go back to your predictions on the Flyers season?
What would it take from Edmonton to get Hart? Edmonton has basically dominated the last five periods of that series thus hiding how truly terrible Mike Smith is. A real goalie and they are a top cup contender.

Oilers probably want someone much more proven for the net 3/4 years imo. Hart to much a risk for them.

Smith made some excellent saves early in that game, he has not been the issue.

He was terrible in Game 1 and the first 10 minutes of game 2. He has not had to do a whole lot since then. Also, making a few excellent saves is expected at this point right?
not a knock on Hart mind you. just looking at it from their end. - hello it's me 2050
I agree. Personally, I fully believe in Carter Hart but Edmonton needs more of a sure thing. Of course goalies that are "sure" things generally cost a lot more. I could see Carey Price ending up there somehow. Canadas hero goalie taking 1 or 2 shots at bringing the cup back to Canada.

nah even at 50% looks like Price is shot. Varlamov trade with a possible 2 year ext or see what the cost is in free agency.
Add in what Hart would cost them, then again chuck is a fool so wont get actual value.

The Oilers hitched there wagon to Mike Smith for the last few seasons so anything is possible in my opinion. If they get past Calgary I think the goalie disparity will be spotlighted in the next series. They will not outplay the Avs or the Blues like they have the Flames.

Watching the Oilers game last night I could NOT hear the play by play or color guy last night. I'm not a TV guy but it almost seems they have the mics on the ice turned too high and the play by play studio mics turned down too low. They were completely drowned out. That seems to be an issue with the ESPN broadcasts as I haven't noticed it much on the TBS/TNT feeds.

100%. The sound is out of whack for whatever reason. You can't hear the announcers sometimes on ESPN.

Markstrom has been even worse, should Calgary get rid of him? Maybe it’s the style of game they are both playing? Think about it.
On one hand, it’s a good thing that the Flyers are doing their due diligence and taking the coaching search slowly and meticulously. On the other hand, one can’t help but wonder, with the playoffs nearly at the halfway point, the draft, free agency, trades, signing, prospects, etc, if taking too long will have a negative impact on building a team that the new coach wants. I guess time will tell.

Are you seriously arguing that Mike Smith is the best option for a cup contender? Markstrom has not been great but look at the goals the Oilers have scored and compare them to the goals the Flames have scored.

So you don’t watch the games? Look at his last 5, outside of the one game he’s been awesome. He’s clearly not a long term solution but he’s getting the job done.

I watched all of game 1 and 2. I did not get to watch yesterday. So it's just the last five when the team in front of him has been completely dominated. Game 2 Flames were up 3-1. Edmonton took over. McDavid scored the goal of the of playoffs so far, the Oilers then scored a PPG, and then two breakaway goals. Man Markstrom was awful for all of those. From everyone I spoke to about the game yesterday the Oilers controlled the play for virtually the whole game. Is that inaccurate? So since being up 3-1 in Game 2 they have been outscored 8-1. That is all on Markstrom?

I don’t know what to tell you, mike smith has been fine. Figure it out.
