I have to be honest, a good part of me was glad that Florida got knocked out last night. As much as I appreciated Giroux as a Flyers player, it really did has not sit well with me regarding the way the trade deadline went down. Instead of allowing Fletcher to deal with a few contending teams to get the best deal he could, Giroux was hellbent on playing for the Panthers and only the Panthers. Thus the Flyers get much less than they could have for a player like Giroux at the deadline, at a time in the franchise when they needed it. And in the end, Giroux's single mindedness ended up costing him a chance at the Cup, and part of me is glad. Karma. - jd250

Oh brother! So no thought whatsoever to all the quality years that Giroux gave the team. Never complained year after year when they didn't build a quality team around him? Giroux negotiated fairly and earned that NMC. It's his right under the CBA and you act like he did something wrong and deserves to get knocked out. How about rooting for the guy after all that he gave you? Just more absurdity from you.
The Flyers got what was expected in the Giroux deal. Your expectations were badly out of whack from the get-go on what they would get for him. Remember they were getting Newhook and then Lundell. LOL. More of what you got right!

So. The flyers have only themselves to blame. CC owed the flyers nothing.

so are you now saying the prior GM should have built around him?
President Trophy winners swept, while scoring 3 goals in the series. If you took the worst team in the League and plugged them into this series, how many goals less than 3 would they have scored?

I agree with some of your post. I'll never get why people root for players to win elsewhere when they don't win for the franchise you are a fan of. To me, seeing this constantly is way beyond old at this point.

Wow…not like they lost to the two time most recent Stanley champions or anything.

Well then we could all be miserable like you right?

I found myself rooting against the Cats also. Not because of Giroux only wanting to go to Florida. He earned that right, so that didn't really bother me, but I'm sick and tired of players leaving here to win elsewhere. Phuck that!! I didn't know how I would feel going into the playoffs, but once the games started I was rooting against those Cats! I'm not a big Bob fan either, so that could also be part of it. Went from scoring 4 goals a game in the regular season to less than 1 a game during the series against Tampa. They have some work to do in south beach! Buh bye Cats! Thanks!

No way man! Players can't win in Philly you must root for their new teams to win so you can win a championship vicariously through them. That mindset is as pathetic as it get. Fans have become accepting of the garbage product the Flyers have put on the ice for a decade.
I find it incredibly sad that many don't see the human element of rooting for a player that played here and gave his heart and soul to the team and is deserving of a chance to win the Stanley Cup after moving on to another team. It's about the performance and character of the player.

First, my loyalty is to the Flyers team, not any individual player. I already stated I appreciated Giroux as a player, and in the past posted I loved him as a player, and I did. But just as you say he does not need to have loyalty to the Flyers since he "earned" his NMC, why the hell should I have any loyalty to him?
Note: I have experience with the mindset you are talking about here because it happened with Ray Bourque and the Bruins, when he got traded after 20 seasons to Colorado and won the cup. In that year, Harry Sidden had several teams he was negotiating with including the Flyers, and even during his last Bruins game which I attended, the talk was he was going to the Flyers. Then the next day he was traded to the Avalanche which came as a surprise to most. I spoke with Bourque years later and he told me he thought he was heading to the Flyers and was talking with Lindros about it before a faceoff during the game. Fast forward, Bourque wins the Cup and they have a parade back in Boston for him. It was disgusting! It was IMO the lowest point in Boston's storied sports history, we had become Loserville!
My point is even Bourque had the decency to allow the Bruins to negotiate with several contending teams, apparently Giroux did not. So heck no, I am not rooting for Giroux, not by a long shot!
Secondly, I NEVER stated the Flyers were getting Newhook or Lundell for Giroux, only that if I were Fletcher I would ask for them and hold the line. At the time however, I had no idea Giroux had tied Fletcher's hands and only allowed him to deal with the Panthers, since that fact did not come out until after the trade was made.
So once again, your insults and accusations are inaccurate and not well thought out.

You sound like a child, Giroux wouldn’t let my team get a better package in return, wahhh.

Yes, it appears Giroux really bolstered their already potent powerplay
Coming from the guy crying about the return we got for him. Loser. Maybe if your boy Fletch played hardball and said then stay put he would haven opened up a couple teams. You ever think of that? The great GM chuck Fletcher

The Flyers aren't playing. Giroux gave his heart and soul to the Flyers for years. You not understanding that is not surprising.

No, you don't have any experience. You showed yourself to be completely clueless on the situation. As numerous people, including myself, told you repeatedly that your expectations were out of whack and not realistic.

Yes you did state that. Repeatedly. Over and over no matter how many people told you it wouldn't happen. We have a situation just yesterday that showed that you were inaccurate on your past statements. I provided the link to your post that corrected you. This is a repeated pattern
