Ya heard that too very good to see Boudreau saying it. As it should be. He knows what the team needs and where it's at. |

Classic Canuck fan whining about doing things differently and here Ovi, Tarasenko, Vasi, Nuchushkin all winning cups after being picked in the first round. - manvanfan
Whining?

I'm not saying don't draft any Russians this year,
I'm not saying don't draft any Russians ever.
I'm saying why, at 15 OA when there are many other choices to take, would you risk taking a Russian player in this political climate, that is over there, and getting limited ice time like Podz did?
Why risk a possible public relations hassle if he can't come over? Why even have to field these questions all. Draft a D man and call it good.
And remember I was one of a few that was calling for Nichuskin to be a Canuck when he was still Dallas property, so don't try and paint me as some anti-Russian guy...

The 'experts' when Miller suits up for Boudreau on Line 1...
- LordHumungous
You make it seem that most in here don't like Miller. To me I love Miller and don't want to see him go. However, age, and the contract to come might set this franchise back over the term. In a perfect non cap world where signing soon to be 30 year olds to long terms makes sense, go for it. But to a team like the Canucks, that are not ready to compete for a Cup, are cap strapped, and have a poor farm system, is he right player at the right time? That is really the only question to be answered.
Not is he tough, scores, etc. He is one of if not our best players at the moment, its not a case of not liking the player. Just the wrong time in the teams cycle. |

You are right you aren't saying don't do it, just when its convenient for you. While other teams are saying I'll take that risk to win a cup and have. |

Well last night he had the NYR deal as an E4. Ek just does this. Predicts every outcome so he can claim he was right. |

It's not really a question of 'like'. Most folks know how valuable Miller currently is to the club. I just don't think this massive 'haul and return' for Miller is there at Present. 2023 is a WAY better draft might be best just to hang on to JT until next years TDL if the club is out of it. Regardless no amount of picks or players will satisfy the majority here. The 'full rebuild' group wants the Kings ransom for Miller which is fine if we get it...but then will whine about the 2-4 year process to get the club back up to speed. Either way...we're screwed lol |

Or he knows what the potential return is in current deals and it’s not close to being what he’s worth. You only trade him if the deal is a good return. Nothing I’ve heard from NY is close. |

Correct. If the WAS and NYR offers were actually on the table at last TDL there is no way those offers will be bettered at the draft or this summer. The biggest haul would most likely had to have taken place then. I agree with Boudreau he needs to stay. At least see what we have next season with a full roster. |

I forgot that there was a war.... or special military action going on when all those other players you posted were drafted, and some despotic ruler was invading Europe and making new rules as he goes along.

You will get significantly more for Miller if you trade him with a full year of his current cap hit. Imagine Vancouver hanging on to him only for him to get injured in February, and then walking in the summer, that would be disasterous.
Trade him now, but make sure the 1st rounder you get back is for next year. |
