Well not Ottawa specifically, but they said several times, they were in the market for a top 6 forward.
They also said they had 7th overall in play, also several times.
You are right up there in the small level with Lefty and Lordy. - Reubenkincade
hmmm
well i did not see a single insider connect those dots between ottawa and debrincat and also ottawa had a deal lined up today to move down from 7 to dump murray's contract to buffalo but he nixed it with his ntc.
and now there's a report that ottawa has yet to even contact debrincat's agent about an extension despite making this deal
sems like this all came together quickly today, no?
seems like it fits the definition of a surprise trade to me lol |

Chicago needs to blow it up. Kane should be next, then Toews with max retention at TDL.
They're likely stuck with Seth though - Nucker101
i guess they plan on going full tank for Bedard, as there is no way anyone is trading for toews and kane with their cap hits and age. We will see a REALLY bad blackhawk team next year I think.

I think with retention both are very moveable. Does Chicago still have 2 retention slots free? |

Hahaha I thought we needed a typical Canucks fan proposal. In all honesty everything I’ve heard from alleged offers from the NYR, they’re just offering us poop anyways and some Canucks fans sound like they’d take it - I-own_da-Northwest
Canucks fans are the most delusional in the league. Schneider plus laff plus 2023 1st. Am I doing this right? |

That value is near equal to what LA traded for Fiala. |

There had been talk of it earlier today. And both sides had said numerous times they were talking to everyone.

Chicago wants to sell Seth Jones as well. Blackhawks are now prepared to go in a different direction. |

Works well for both teams imo. - LeftCoaster
in a way. This draft has been widely speculated to not have any "1st line talent" as far as forwards go. Obviously its too early to project, but a ton of analysts were saying its a good draft, but not great.
The 7th and 39th for a 24 year old 1st line sniper. I mean, Chicago can only hope that either of those draft picks come close to getting another Debricant.
I think Ottawa is the clear winner of the trade, and even with Chicago committed to a rebuild. They should have rebuilt around Debricant, and not signed Jones to that atrocious contract.

that contract could be one of the worst contracts in the league and will be for a very long time. |

like i said, a surprise trade, not a surprise that debrincat got moved
ottawa went from using that pick to cap dump to using it to trade for a 1st line winger
didnt think that comment would be so controversial, touchy crowd |

It's pretty quiet on Van news so far today. That must mean that Miller is going to re-up for 8 years. |

If Benning were still in charge he would send Miller to Chicago for Seth Jones (probably added a pick as well). And then Chicago would flip Miller for three 1st rounders… |

I'm surprised they moved on from Debrincat. Only 24 seems to be the wrong guy to move. |

I don’t see why that’s delusional as it acquires a top 10 player in the league production wise for them.
What do you suggest? We trade him straight across for Kakko and the rights to Ryan Strome like many other Canucks fans are suggesting? Hahahahahaha |
