Why can't this group just say, we suck and we're rebuilding?
- A_SteamingLombardi

If they were rebuilding, they would have turned over the roster at least a little bit on the TD and the draft and acquired picks. They didnt even pick up a 2nd and as far as other picks went, a 3rd traded and a 4rth acquired. A step down in pick accumulation.

So far it looks like this management group sees the team as competitive and needing additions instead of rebuilding/retooling,,,, there's still time but the lack of action on the most crucial dates so far is pointing at that direction. Free agency is going to determine this. Team structure stays the same, minor additions to add size and sand paper.... couple of minor cap moves to make room for this.

Forget about the one step back and two steps forward dream. I'm not sure this management is willing to have a step back season for the better of the team long term.

Wonder if the Canucks picking 2 big Dmen and a big C will clear up the female doging that's been going on... I doubt it
- NorthNuck

Long shots by all accounts. Two more 6'2" D but both are known for being more physical.

I agree and this worries me. I would have hoped the new regime would have more gonads to stand up to FA and say this needs a rebuild ... not a re-tool, not some tweaks, not a few pieces.

I don't think FA can see the forest for the trees ... or likes to hear names he's never heard of.

Let's see if they sell tickets this summer They're limited in the free agent market. They must be happy with what they have.

Hi!

Trying to keep up with all the action, I've got a new blog ready with one pick still to come from the Canucks.

Looking at Lekkerimaki and the Islanders trade rumours, as well as a quick glance at Vancouver's Day 2 selections.

None of these kids will most likely play, outside of the first three rounds anyway. Wasted energy even following them.

Canucks 5th round selection was the backup in PG this year.

Also the owner of the dubious distinction of having a 20.65 GAA and 0.625 SV% in his 1 playoff appearance

You did not read that wrong.

In a draft that was going to be all over the place?

You also predicted no Russian's drafted in the first round. Yurov would be there after 80. So really you got about 1 right out of 6.

- manvanfan

I wasn’t serious about him being there at 80 you mutt.

No you weren’t!

You were wrong on the Russians. You were wrong on Lambert. You were less than 50% correct! Just admit it!

- TurdFergeson

How was I wrong on lambert? People were saying we should take him at 15, I said he will likely fall out of the round. 30 is remarkably close

That goes without saying.

No action on critical dates. Draft pick availability reduced. Sandpaper out, soft paper in with trades. Miller still here after critical dates.

I can honestly say the Dermott trade was stupid af. With no 2nd and not any real need for the player, it stinks of Benning.
