I think you underestimate the demand for Bailey! He has his own goal song!

It amazes me how desperately Islander fans want him gone, yet completely overvalue his return.

How could I forget the song? Maybe because it plays so infrequently.

It's not good if other teams do not value our talent especially if we expect players like Beau and Wally to help this year. It's very funny how Bailey is seen and treaded by the Isles and he has such low value elsewhere. Maybe the Isles overrate the players? Hopefully the Isles bounce back this year. Another disappointing regular season and those two long playoff runs will be written off as a fluke.

As others have more or less predicted, I would not be surprised if Lou decides to stand pat, at least for a while, unless a great deal comes his way. I think he may want to see what Lambert can do with the same group of forwards that Trotz had.

I liked Kozlov on the Islanders. I don't remember why they didn't keep him beyond the one season he played for them. I know he was older, but he was still decent.

This very well may happen John. I am interested to see what Lambert can do with some of the young forwards.

Friedman's new podcast that dropped a little while ago:

- CBJ were in on Romanov with the 12th pick as well

- "Don't count out the NY teams" on Kadri, it's suspected that NYI/NYR will both be talking to Kadri

I'm just not sure about Kadri and is his numbers inflated playing for Colorado?

I guess the question at this stage is, who do you want to sit in order to keep playing Bailey? Both Wally and Bellows are at stages in their career where they need to consistently play so we can determine to fish or cut bait. Someone has to be the odd man out

I don't think there's much more to Bellows than we've seen. We don't even know if he's been qualified yet, but will by 5pm

He's probably destined to be a bottom-six player with an above-average shot

I'm sure they were, to some degree. I don't expect him to be an above-PPG player forever, but if he can put up 70-75ish points over a full season then he'd be a much-welcomed addition. Either he or Barzal could play wing.

It's worth investigating for sure. I'd love to sign Malkin but that is very doubtful.

I don't think Malkin wants to play anywhere but Pittsburgh and I'm willing to bet that they work things out by Wednesday.

Kadri would probably be best used at center if he signed here. He took the most total faceoffs on the Avs by a wide margin (>300) last year, including the most OZ and DZ faceoffs. He finished at about 50%, which is almost four percentage points higher than Barzal did.

Wouldn’t mind Kadri at all.
So it looks like Evander Kane will explore FA.
What’s your feeling on him. I don’t think Lou would touch him with a 10 foot pole.
Wondering if he finally got vaccinated? I mean that would be a starting point with Lou.

I agree about Malkin and the Pens. Would be nice if Malkin wanted to be away from Sid's shadow and Malkin saw the success the Isles had against the Pens.

I would be fine with Barzal moving to wing. If Kadri kept his head on straight he could be a very nice addition.

No idea on his vax status, but I would probably agree that they wouldn't be interested in bringing him in. His agent thinks he will get between 40-50mil on his next deal and I don't know if he's worth that.

I agree. Guys a cancer on a team imho.
I wanna know the team the gives that on his next deal?

Don’t know if possible to add Trochek but I would love him on the team.

Apparently the Oilers offered him 4x$4.5M, which is pretty low.

He may not get the high end of that, but he could probably get around $35M. 5 years at about $6.5M would get him in that neighborhood

Could be but I’m thinking his reputation makes GM’s shy away from him unless it’s a deal. We shall see soon enough.

Frankly, I don't know how adding anyone is possible if we're not shipping out Bailey/Varly/Beau. Dobson is going to get paid and Romanov needs a contract as well. There won't be a whole lot left over to sign any higher-end UFA after that.

If we’re not adding to the top 6(still possible of course)we’re going to need one of bellows or Wahlstrom ideally both to play somewhat prominent roles next season.

Absolutely agree, no team improves without growth of your young players.
Just trying to fix this team with a UFA is limited.
And honestly the team does not need to be fixed since their style is pretty set.
Lambert may get more offense but if they stay healthy we know what to expect with the d and goaltending.
Possible they could sign Gaudreau or Kadri but I think it will be Burakovsky who may have chemistry on the top line.

100%
Tough to go out and add that “ sniper “ to the team you currently have. (frank)ing cap!
Don’t think Lou will chance trading Varly honestly.
