Plus we're not exactly sure of how much the cap is gonna go up, correct? Or are they set on 1 million a year lol - 668710
Expectation around the league is that it will jump up much higher after the 2024 season.

My gut means nothing, but I have this feeling that Palat will be a Penguin.
I'm sure ten minutes after I post this he'll have signed elsewhere.

Not opposed to that

In all seriousness, that's what happened in the NBA. In 2015, after the NBA set a record TV deal, the salary cap increased by 32%.
It gave pretty much every team enough cap space to sign any player they wanted... including the Warriors who were able to sign Durant.
As you can imagine, teams throw huge amounts of money at free agents in 2016 which led to a lot of teams being bloated and not able to afford free agents in 2017 and 2018.
If the Pens were smart, they'd hold back in 2024 and go big in 2025 and 2026. Less teams competing for the same FAs.

Didn't realize Phil the thrill had 52 points last year. If he's cheap, bring him back! Send Kap to the moon. - madmike71
I’m actually surprised he hasn’t been signed yet. There’s a handful of FAs I’m surprised are still out there.

And just like that, EK has Boston and NJ leading the way for Palat. Should I consider that a win?

With NJ missing out on Gaudreau I could see them overpaying to secure Palat.

He is available, but no more info on Larsson.
There's a lot of good players available still. I think it will keep the bargain players as bargains.
