Won’t happen at first or maybe ever, but I think we’re the deepest if we roll out 3 lines like this ….
Panarin Zib Kravtsov
Kreider Trocheck Goodrow
Laf Chytil Kakko
I know he will start the year on a line with Panarin, but I don’t look at the 2nd/3rd line as different, more of a 2A/2B - nyrangers9479
You can’t at this point play your top 2 picks 13 minutes a night. No other team would do this. They need top minutes to hit their ceiling.
Also I love Goodrow but if he’s in your top 6 ever your team is garbage. He’s not a point producer |

I agree with this. It is time to push Kakko and Laf in the higher minute roles to force progression. Kakko needs to get back into a grove after his long injury. |

I heard Trocheck's interview on SXM and he was asked if being from Pittsburgh led him to want to sign with the Pens. He said not really, because although he would be "closer to home" the best opportunity on the ice was what influenced his decision. That makes me think the Pens wanted him instead of Malkin but when he chose the Rangers' offer the pens had to circle back to Malkin and re-sign him. - dashripdot
That question also ignores he spent half of his youth in the Detroit area. |

The only player that should push one of them down is Kravs. Gallant goy too cute last year playing hunt and Goodrow in the top 6. It’s bc the team had no depth. It’s a disservice to the younger skill guys and players like Panarin zib Kreider to play with those players. Put them in the right roles |

I think its gonna be
Kreider-Zib-Lafreniere
Panarin-Trocheck-Kakko
Goodrow-Chytil-Kravtsov
Blais-Rydahl-Reaves
Hunt
but I think Cuylle is really gonna give Gallant something to think about in camp
I think Othmann will go back to juniors for one more year |

This could definitely be the lineup with Goodrow playing 4c at times. I really hate Reaves as an every day player tho

I still think it’s way to early to consider Rydahl in the opening night lineup. He has never played on North American ice. It may take some time to adjust |

yeah maybe, its all gonna play out in camp, but Goodrow could definitely take the 4th line center
I still think Gallant likes playing him with Chytil to take pressure off on faceoffs though

I really dont think the fit is that curious, this team was screaming for a good faceoff guy and 2nd line center

Why? I know the playoffs are our most recent reference point, but he was an extremely effective player during the regular season and the team seemed to play a lot bigger with his presence in the line up.
Hopefully Rhydal ends up being as big of a wiener as he's made out to be and that can eventually allow Reaves to be out of the line up more but we need someone other than Trouba to fight battles.

Strome didn't play with Frank Vatrano. Anyone can play with Frankie, though. Guy shoots first, asks questions later. |

Why curious fit, do you mean mainly with him centering Panarin? If so, I tend to agree that Kreider and Laf seem like better fits based on style of play. He will probably start between Panarin and Kakko or Krav though. Good to have options. |

I just mean because of the way he plays.
I love the guy, don't get me wrong, I don't think I'd put him next to Panarin though. He's a guy who needs to have the puck on his stick a lot. BUT for a smaller guy he spends a lot of time in the trenches and in front of the net. You'll like him. I dunno if he'll survive to the end of that contract, but you'll like him.

Anaheim still has a billion in cap space they should sign all the Stromes

That's right. I'd think he'd fit better with Kreider and Laf than with the breadman. Creates a lot off of little individual plays, doesn't tend to mesh well with guys who like to hang on to the puck a lot. |

winning about 10% more faceoffs per year than Strome did is gonna be key
they were often trying to get the puck back while they were on the ice because Strome was and Chytil for that matter were so bad at faceoffs
I think its hard to appreciate just how frustrating being a bad faceoff team is when you root for a team as good as Carolina usually is at them

Ryan Carpenter signs with the Rangers on a one year contract. Chris Drury said the Rangers were in the market for a depth center. Carpenter is a depth center. |

Strome signed a 5 x 5 deal with the Ducks. I know everyone knows that but for 5M per? What the hell did he want from the Rangers? |

Thats actually good for us because we dont have a lot of guys who are reliable drivers with the puck. As long as he can pull attention away from Panarin, it will work. |
