Well they can temporarily be over the cap and make that call later if they want to sign someone (Motte).

I kind of think Motte is gonna get like 3 years 6 million like Jesper Fast did

That's a bit rich in any scenario.

Gallant has definitely had some input in the C signings. Drury said yesterday that GG was hanging around, drawing up mock lineups lol. #NYR

If Othmann or Cuylle could push Blais down to the 4th line so that we have a 4th line of

Blais - Goodrow - Reaves/Hunt/Carpenter/Rydahl

I'd feel a lot better. Otherwise that 4th line is not really gonna cut it. Blais and Goodrow are solid enough that they can afford to have one of the other 4 guys on the line at any time. But Goodrow with 2 of those 4 guys (reaves/hunt/carpenter/rydahl) is not impressing anyone

Motte is not as valuable as Fast is/was...yet. I think that would be an overpayment.

Motte is a 2yr between 1.5-2.5mill guy. Still needs to prove to be valuable consistently.

goodrow caprnter hunt is a shutdown 4th line. Not much offense but not a liability like last year early on

I would’ve traded reaves to sign motte in a heartbeat.

Any chance they bury Reaves in the minors? Would remove over a mil of his hit it looks like.
- JRR1285

I think what will happen with Reaves is we will have him up until the deadline as a deterrent over the course of the 60-65 games leading up to it. At the deadline he will likely be dealt to create cap space for the potential/possibly inevitable Kane trade.

Hunt doesn’t do anything for me and carpenter has never really been a full time player from what I can tell. I’m sure he’ll end up on the Panarin line at some point

Well of course, Motte is an all around hockey player where as Reaves is what he is.

keeping motte would have been idea but cap is a problem.

The ony players touching the top 6 this year should be kreider, panarin, zib, kakko, laf, trocheck, chytl, and kravs. If hunt, carpenter, goodrow touch the top 6 we have a major problem hahah

Goodrow is like a utility guy in baseball, can play anywhere, fill in anywhere in the lineup

Love Reaves but he doesn’t do anything well anymore. Can’t skate, defend or provide offense. Good for the locker room and rival games. Bringing in carpenter now mean Reaves is just a part time player
- nyrangers2

Why I didn’t get the need to extend him when he first signed

I really think they still like Reaves, are happy with him here another year and suggestions that we trade him, buy him out or bury him in the minors have all been a complete waste of time

And extend him for 1.75!! On a team in need of Cap space. If his Cap hit was a million or so, so be it but for a part time 4th liner. Not Good. This signing and the Nemeth signing were head scratchers. In 3 years when we dont have our 2d rounders, we will be saying we lost them cause of Nemeth.

oh yeah, what the hell was up with you guys wanting to trade for Dylan Strome's rights before UFA started

that was one of the nuttiest things Ive seen go on around here

yeah, obviously there is a big stampede to sign Dylan Strome right now

Dylan Strome had 11 hits last season, is anyone paying attention to what kind of guys Drury likes?
