How does one give Nic D a partial no trade clause? A plyer like that probably doesn't even ask for it, Chuck likely offered imo.
A 4 year deal makes him close to untradeable anyway. |

Hextall was garbage, mediocre at best. He just happened to be followed up by possibly the worst GM in history. This is now Fletchers mess 100%. I’m just hoping this upcoming season goes south real fast and the noise is so loud sweeping changes are made. - ClaudeFather
I completely disagree that Hextall was garbage.
We'll have another press conference with excuses and they'll again tell us that they're just a few players away.

This franchise has become the laughingstock of the NHL.
Ol fleece me feltcher makes good GMs look even better
I can't believe how far this franchise has fallen and with nothing to even show for it
It's going to be a season of disappointment. At least we can watch the kids grow and develop. Probably not here, but it'll be nice to see them succeed anyway - Bob Habib

If this thing gets ugly, they better do the right thing and clear house. Unfortunately, they have the luxury of last year being so bad they will have the “step in the right direction” excuse as well as Torts first year. Late season win a few games and “it’s starting to come together”. |

Pretty sad when the hope for an upcoming season is exactly that….(frank) it’s mid July and the season already is a write off. - landros 2
As low as it gets. First time maybe ever I could care less about the Flyers |

Hextall did an awful job here, and chuck is one upping him. Both are not good.
The only think Chuck has on hextall is his drafting seems to be considerably better.

How is it better? way to early to tell imo. York only guy he drafted with more than a handful of nhl games. |

Yes, solid players but not even close to being 1st line or 1st D pair on a good team. Hexy is better than chuckles but way over-rated by some one here. - Don Nachbaur
if Chucks plan was a full rebuild without actually saying that then he may be a good GM, it sure seems like that is his goal. If he pulls it off and we get a top 3 pick i tip my hat to chuck. Could have done it with signing ND to 1 or 2 years instead of 4 though

Fletcher is compounding it? Hextall has the team in good cap position with a good prospect base and was competing for the playoffs. Fletcher has the team capped out with numerous bad contracts at the bottom of the league. What in the hell are you talking about?

You see the outrage. He says rebuild it is all avoided. Really would like to know what the vibe is in the offices and the talk between the higher ups. |

Fletcher lost me at the Kevin Hayes signing. I knew the second he traded for Hayes’ rights from the Jets we were in trouble and I’ve been saying this everyday for 4 years. I took an absolute beating from most of you during Hayes’ first season here.
Now my issues with Hextall are very simple and don’t even include selecting Nolan Patrick and missing on that pick because everyone and their grandmother had Nico Hischier or Nolan Patrick going 1 or 2. My issue with Hextall was filling up the Cupboards with prospects but doing very little with the product on the ice. RJ Umberger, Chris Vandevalde, Michael Del Zotto, Andrew MacDonald and Jori Lehtera. The product on the ice was so dull, the only fun you could have following this team was following the prospects.
Now the future is here and we have “fans” complaining that what we’ve drafted is awful and it’s all on Hextall. I gotta tell you guys, I was on these boards the days leading up to Provorov’s and Farabee’s drafts and it was unanimous that both fans and management wanted these two players. We had nothing on defense before Provorov. Provorov changed things for the better, even if the defense has slipped. You all wanted Farabee and cheered when he was selected.
When Hextall was here, he managed to ship out Pronger’s contract and LeCavalier’s contract, which is what everyone wanted. Both players were corpses. JvR is alive and Fletcher can’t move him. Explain as to why that is. JvR is better than what LeCavalier was here. I don’t believe Fletcher is exploring every avenue or playing hardball. He bought out Lindblom at 1 year, 3 million and the Sharks picked up Lindblom at practically the same price of 2.5 million and multiple seasons an hour later? That’s a terrible look.
If you hate what Hextall has done, god bless, it was definitely a slow process but at least you could see where he was going. Where is Fletcher going? Excuse me for bringing up Joe Biden because I don’t hate or love the man, I just believe he’s over his head at his age but for all the meme that say Biden is lost, Fletcher is like the Joe Biden of the sports world. |

I havent seen chuck wiff on a 1st round pick yet, hextall wiffed on numerous 1st round picks. And that sets us back big time, need to hit on the 1st rounders

You don’t think trading a first round pick for Ristolainen isn’t a wiff? Of course you haven’t seen him “wiff” yet. He’s too busy trading the picks away or the story hasn’t been written on Cam York, Tyson Foerster yet. You haven’t seen a wiff but you haven’t seen a hit either. |

No doubt. He'd be the first GM to rebuild by capping out the team.

The way he has constructed this team I don’t see any path to move forward to contention. While under his watch. |

I agree, there is no current path. They are a decade away maybe if they change real soon. I don't have hopes that they will.

There is nothing they have shown to give one hope. There is no benefit of the doubt. No trust us. Nothing. That currency is used up.
What I don’t get is how even Clarke and Holmgren can sit back and don’t speak up is baffling. For as archaic as they are they have to know this is a complete failure.
Bill has said they are not involved and I agree. For better or worse they bleed Flyers. No way they are happy with the results.
Just a very odd situation to me as no management team can be this blind. Or shouldn’t be. |

It is Clarke and Holmgren's path. They're responsible. They're who has influenced people like Scott that the team is going to be aggressive and be a cap team. Teams are too smart and have learned how to build teams in a cap environment. Then there is the simple fact that other teams who are aggressive have been so much better at it then they are.
There is a proven path. Build through the draft. Build your team up to a high level and then supplement with trades and free agency when the team is close. Shouldn't pass up a good trade along the way but those are rare. In order to take advantage of that situation, you need to manage the cap well. To have that space to take advantage of teams situations. The Flyers are just plain stupid. No other way to put it.

I don’t think it is there path as both stepped away when they knew their path didn’t work. That is what’s odd to me.
Chuck is just horrible. Has no backbone. No vision. No nothing. He is plain stupid no argument here. |
