I really wish I was a reporter at Chuckles' presser(no, I didn't even watch it). I would have cornered him and asked him sincerely what the phuck was going through his mind when he signed a no hands cement head to a 4 year contract worth almost 2 mil AAV. That move alone should get Chuckles removed from his position. FIRE CHUCK! - Phillywhiteout
According to the stats i've seen, the Flyers are the team ND likes to fight the most over the years. What's he going to do fight Nick Seeler .. again? Maybe a pregame fight at center ice to warm up the crowd?
Reminds me of when the Flyers signed Jody Shelley, actually there's a bunch of similarities .. https://bleacherreport.co...ves-in-the-flyers-signing
Games played went from 58, 30, 1 with only 1 his 3rd year scoring a total of 5 points and 537 TOI.
Instead of signing an enforcer on day 1, signing a versatile player on day 3 for the same contract would've been the smart thing to do.
Calle Jarnkrok .. https://thehockeynews.com...arnkrok-to-four-year-deal
I wonder what the great and powerful Ian Anderson has to say about the difference in analytics between ND and Calle Jankrok given the similar age, money, and term.
ND is the type of bottom of the roster move that good teams don't make. If his type of player hard to find, it's because other teams have stopped signing them.

Bill Meltzer: Quick Hits: Dev Camp, Attard, Emery in Memoriam - bmeltzer
A no trade clause on top of this absurd contract? Seriously.
What happened to the aggressive retool Scott and the Used car salesman promised?
Fletcher has managed to make a bottom feeder team worse than the year beforre. No cap space, while being non competitive is hard to do. Fletcher has managed to unite the entire fan base into hating this franchise.

Nicolas Deslauriers' contract with the #Flyers includes the following trade protection:
From July 13, 2022 to June 30, 2024 -

Attard an offensive dman. Cernak a defensive dman.
Seems the development plan is once again backwards. Going to take his skill set and try to turn him into something he is not.
Calle Jankrok probably had little interest in the Flyers once the Leafs came calling. |

The fact he was hired after a decade of futility in Minnesota shows how incompetent this Organization is. |

Unless your from the area, I would guess that's a common sentiment unless Philly overpays, which they have shown they will do (see ND and Kevin Hayes).

With the state of the franchise in disarray they absolutely have to overpay for the 2nd/3rd tier players. They are not attracting the elite level players.
Watching this unfold is a hard to watch. |

Indeed. From Dave Scott down, this organization is directionless and incompetent. The fans, and now the media, are taking notice. One would think the half-empty seats would’ve caused these boobs to take notice. Instead, they sold us a bill of goods. Aggressive retool… either a lie or a monumental failure. PUTRID. Dave must go. Fletcher must go. Clean house and don’t expect a full stadium until there is a direction. |

I actually liked Attard’s game after his un even start. One of the bonus’s of being so bad was to get the kids in and have them get a feel for what the NHL is. I think his upside is still pretty high. I also like the idea of having him model his game after a guy like Cernak…if he can commit to that side of the puck, he could really turn out to be a very good top 4 d man who has all the tools. As far as making the team out of camp, he may need some time in the A, but he’s definitely one of the young guys I’m excited about. |

He turned it around without a doubt. Got much better.
I don’t like him modeling his game after him as they are only similar in size. |

I think they told the fans what they thought they wanted to hear. Fletcher has had 7 months to put a retool into effect and he’s either incompetent or never had any real plan to do so all along. I mean to say we didn’t have the cap space….when for those 7 months you chose not to be anything close to being aggressive to address the cap situation.
Why fans are upset is because it’s like they think this fan base is stupid, that they don’t understand the issues facing the team…it’s arrogance from a guy that has never been successful in the position he now holds. I mean to tell reporters the week of the draft that he could see a lot of trades happening, to tell those same reporters last year that he was the busiest GM out there, shows he’s lying or just not very good at his job. As other teams get busy trying to put a plan in place and build towards something we are stuck with Fletcher and his incompetence. |

Agreed. Hopefully they develop him properly. Give him a fair shot at the NHL level and of need be, let him play a lot in the AHL. The worst thing this befuddled organization can do is yo-yo him back and forth. |

I think they just need to see him improve in his own end and Cernak does a lot of little things that make him effective back there. |

Apparently there was a Deslauriers sweepsteaks….and the Flyers were very fortunate to win….just what we need, a one dimensional 31 year old who is not very good at anything beyond fighting and being a good locker room guy. Awesome. Fine on a 1 year 1.2 mill deal, but that contract is a joke….when you consider all the holes this team still has. |

What is it to this rumor that the Flyers are trying to get Chychrun from AZ? Not sure how they could make this work. Most likely just rumor fodder as a misdirection for some other deal between AZ and another team. I would have no faith in CF to be able to pull off that deal unless he was giving away our 2023 and 2024 first round picks along with a roster player. That would be typical of Fleeced Fletcher. |

Well he did go to Harvard and is Bobby Clarke's surrogate son. What more do you need? If you graduated from Harvard you have to be at the top of your field, whatever it is, right?
Seriously though is there some Flyers roster org chart that has roster spots reserved for enforcers and Fletch was just ticking off the box for the next half decade when he signed ND?

The real kick in the teeth is that he gave away Lindblom who is a MUCH, MUCH better player than ND (maybe that's not saying a lot but it's indisputably true) when they could have held onto him and moved him for value at the TDL. WTF is Chuck thinking? Or smoking?

Probably Arizona calling them….if you saw a GM out there that seems to overpay in trades and new contracts that’s the guy you’d call first. The reported price tag is beyond stupid….or right in Fletchers wheelhouse. |

Loved Ray Emery’s passion. That game where he forced Holtby to fight was so memorable.
ND and Seeler fought this past season. It was a great scrap, and at the end they even patted each other on the helmet and back as a sign of mutual respect. I’m probably in the minority here, but I personally love the signing of ND (not necessarily the term, however). He understands his role and he sticks up for his teammates. Other than Mac and Seeler last season, Flyers didn’t have enough players with that kind of mindset. All that said…where in the hell is the scoring going to come from this year, Chuck?!! |
