Theo Fox: Runway Modeling
A look at the element of speed that the Blackhawks are rebuilding around and how the 2022 draft class may be the starting point headlined by Frank Nazar, Kevin Korchinski, and Sam Rinzel. |

Uno (early flight today)
Alex Fortin, Stahlberg, the Hawks have had their share.
You fill the backlog with guys who can skate, you bound to hit on a few.
Better to have ones that can keep up with the rest of the league going forward. One thing the Blackhawks have looked the last few years is slow, and as much as one can hate a total tear down, you're never winning a cup with slow. |

Alex Fortin was signed when he had a good prospect camp. He was never drafted. Of course scouts make mistakes but all 31 of them in his draft year? Kudo's for him to getting a few games in the NHL and a few years pro. IMO Jack Skille would of been a better example of your thesis, of which I agree with.
Or for us old timers, Bob Liddington of the Chicago Cougars. |

The Athletic did a re-do of the 2019 draft. While it’s too early to seriously question that draft it’s still fun. Some notable changes:
- Zegras goes #2 (went 9th)
- Seider goes #3 (6th)
- Caufield goes #5 (15th)
- Byram goes #6 (4th)
- Kakko goes #10 (2nd)
- Dach goes #11 (3rd)
- Hoglander goes #18 (40th)
- Wolf goes #19 (214th)

Travis Yost, writing for TSN, has begun a series of articles grading position depth charts by team. It likely subjective, but he has the Hawks in the bottom 4 for left wings.

I’d say they’re in the bottom 2. |

Time to lose another trade involving Saad. |

Other than Kane, I don't think that there is a single player on the current roster that would be considered a loss in a trade for Saad. |

Interesting they have Kubalik listed as a LW. |

You will need his contract to reach the cap floor next year.

It's a million less than Toews and Kane's 8 year old contract's it's a fair contract. |

Fairness argument aside, is it a contract that helps them in the rebuild? Aside from staying above the salary floor, as was mentioned earlier. |

Think it is $500k-$1 million more than market, but its not egregious.

When signed, Toews and Kane were far superior players than Jones when he signed. It’s a terrible contract for a good not great player. But LA is correct the Hawks need that brutal contract to get to the cap floor. My concern is if Chicago were to become viable in two to three years does that contract become an albatross? |

Nothing wrong with Jones or his contract. The guy is a 1D and he was signed in his prime to be that. You aren't gonna get a discount on a guy you didn't draft. That's just how the system works. |

Its what he played pretty much the whole time with the Hawks. Whereas Lafferty has played center and RW with the Hawks. |

And it's not like we have anyone that is going to command a big contract for now. If we do win the Bedard lotto draft, then maybe in 4 years so really Seth's contract isn't going to affect us for years. |

It already is an albatross. He is overpaid by 2-3M easily and why that contract is on just about every list of worse contracts in the league. |

There are many ways to accomplish getting to the floor. Its not a reason to keep Jones, imo. |

That list is pretty flawed given that a lot don't actually play LW. Does the 4 listed for the Blues really scare anyone?
Saad, Buchevich, Barbashev and some other rummy? I mean is it really a top tier group? |

Not on a good team. Could be a reason why he has played on mediocre to bad teams his whole career. |
