Yea. But if it was going to be him they would’ve done it years ago. One less piece of drama heading into the season |

Yep exactly. Once they passed on Kreider when he signed his new deal don’t think it was ever happening |

I agree feels wrong it's not Kreider, but glad that he won't have any added pressure I'm sure he'll be putting enough on himself to try and have a similar season to this one.
Also makes sense seeing as we've traded our last 2 Captains that someone who in a few years will be ripe for a trade gets named Captain. |

I think this is a pivotal point. Obviously, I don't know either of them personally, but I get the impression Kreider might be more susceptible to allowing perceived mental pressure affect his game. Trouba doesn't have to get on the scoreboard to put his stamp on a game. And while he seems destined for a trade, maybe they will decide his diminishing cap percentage is worth his leadership. Who knows? |

Exactly. Say what you want about that "hit." You guys are far from getting the short end of the stick as fans. |

Someone complained about Trouba's penalties in the last blog.
I didn't feel quite the same, so I dug a little...
88 PIMS last season, which included 6 fighting majors. So, approx. 29 penalties in about 22:30 TOI per game. With 177 blocks and 207 hits. Oh, and 39 points. I have zero problem with any of that. The one stat I'd like to see him work on cleaning up is his 63 giveaways to 24 takeaways. But, he did often see the top opposition players and had almost a career high for d zone starts. Plus,... Igor. |

Dude, Jan is worth the read for fans of any team. I bet they read 4 or 5 blogs for every team they post. |

We've had decades of generational talent. The chances of two top 5 players all time spending their whole careers with a smaller market expansion team are pretty insane. So yes, no doubt we've been lucky.
We can b!tch about Mario's poor health/illnesses and Crosby's concussion history, that can be true while being grateful for the ride we've had. |

Well no, I came here because 1) I enjoy reading Jan's blogs 2) I was curious what you guys thought of the decision. I personally was pretty surprised they went with Trouba.
Someone posted a gif and I playfully posted another one. I really wouldnt read too much into it. |

Once the Rangers win the Cup within the next 2-3 years nobody will care if we trade him or not. |
