Heās a good player no doubt and definitely improve the Leafs d a lot - Iām not a fan of that move though if Leafās need to move Nylanderā¦ which they almost certainly would need to.
My reasoning is that to me the Leafs d was fine in the playoffs. Not at all the issue. To me it was the lack of āgrindā and production from middle 6 and tending (look at campbells numbersā¦ not good in addition to the eye test) when push came to pull. Getting rid of Nylander after already losing Mikhayev makes that group much worse.
To me the issues with that chunk of the lineup was that they all play same game. Thatās a problem in my opinion.
I would much rather see the Leafs make a move to improve the forward group if itās between that vs d core. Iām not even remotely a Suban fan but if leafs could move Muzzin in a deal with Kerfoot to scoop up a better option on JT wing then sign him to fill that gap and heās good enough.
If Willy gets moved Iād hope for the Leafs that Crouse is also coming back and Leafs add in something else to get that done with chyc. Or move Willy in part of a deal for JT Miller. I like Willy but Miller plays a different type game thatās needed in your lineup.
The Toronto Maple Leafs organization has drafted and developed a number of youngsters currently playing in the NHL (Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, William Nylander
Mike you do really solid work and I enjoy your writing ... here though I gotta give you a little Deacon Jones head slap.... Short of calling out these 3 cats name at the podium... Leafs didn't do Deek on the development side....

Time for MccccTavish .... - dozerD10
Nylander played parts of 2 seasons in AHL
I also think players can develop while playing in NHL. No doubt both Matthews and Nylanderās 2 way game are much improved.

Spot on.
It's not player talent as much as it is the blend of player type. We need to swap a few of one type for a few of the other type. 1 or 2 Forwards and at least 1 D.
Can it or will it get done, totally different story.

So I hope Mctavish is the next Max Domi. š - jribout

Holl played 5 games and was a problem every single second he was on the ice.
I agree that Bill Ny in the trade is no bueno. Other teams are offering piddles, so it makes no sense that the Leafs would need to put Bill Ny into the trade (Bill Ny > the entirety of Ottawa's assumed "trade"). Picks and prospects is what they should want, anyways.
And (frank) no to Subban. Would be horrible. Trying to get rid of Holl, not add another one.
But my whole wanting Chychrun business, is that I think Muzzin should be traded (if he accepts being traded, of course), even if he played good hockey in the playoffs. And a healthy Chychrun would be a fantastic addition. Makes less $$$ than Muzzin and is better.
