I never did stay up and watch the US loss… I’m wondering with such a disappointing result if there will be any discussion about the roster make up and who did and didn’t make the team…. They seemed to leave off a lot of skilled kids that were in the US development program for some lesser skilled alternatives… I realize it’s an 19 year old tourney but it’s apparent they seemed to lack that offensive push when it was needed. Bazar and Guathier come to mind. |

Monahan brought back a top 10 protected 1st round pick in 2024 or 2025.

Pretty sure its good Chuck didn't do that for JVR. They wanted our pick for the Bedard draft and that is a non starter in my opinion. Plus Chuck was not really in a negotiating position that Calgary was in. They could just LTIR Monahan to make the space I believe.
Of course Chuck made his own bed. |

I didn't see the U.S. team get upset cause I didn't feel like staying up to watch, but if the Canadians were upset like that they'd burn the country down. I have seen Foerster play in a couple games and he does look like a pretty good player. Seems to go to the net and has a good shot. This is something the Flyers desperately need to add to their group of lackluster forwards! FIRE CHUCK! Thanks! |

Is Calgary better or worse after this off-season? I say A LOT worse. This Kadri signing seemed like a pure act of desperation and one they will regret very soon. |

Tough year, the injuries, but I think it’s more than that. It’s not just injuries," Couturier said. "We still have to find a way, we can’t just put it all on the injury excuse. We've got to find a way to be more responsible, take some ownership in our mistakes and learn from them. It seemed that at times we didn’t have any growth in our game. It was just a tough year.
-Sean Couturier
Hopefully Torts will fix this and we can at least see some good hockey games this season. Jason Myrtetus rightly pointed out recently that historically it has taken Torts over 1 season to turn the culture around on a team, so though I want to see better hockey games, I still want the Flyers to come up short and be picking high in the 2023 draft. That is their best way forward IMO. |

I'm not a fan of Chuck but have no problem with him not dealing JVR for the price that it would have taken. Now, most of his moves this summer..... |

The Kadri signing improves them at center. Most long term UFA signings come with some risk. |

I don't agree with this AT ALL. They may have slightly downgraded from Gaudreau to Huberdeau and Tzachuk to Kadri is a downgrade but not huge. They also improved their defense by adding Weegar.
They are still a 100 point team in my eyes.

It is a broken record every time a player says the same thing year after year. Same boring ass take they give all the time.
Couterier has been here a long time. Should have moved on from him as well. There comes a time when best to move no matter how good the player. |

Weegar was a really strong add for them. That top line won't be the same but they added a premier playmaking winger to play with their quality goal scorers. Kadri improves them at center. There is give and take there.

A coach can only take a team so far. Talent is still what matters.

JG is a soft player come playoff time, so losing him may not be as big a deal as people think. Calgary's first line was manhandled by the Oilers first line in that playoff series. Kadri is a known playoff performer and a good 2nd line center. The 2 guys they got from Florida are good players, so I'd say the Flames did just fine and may have even improved their chances come playoff time. FIRE CHUCK! PLEASE! |

Anyone notice not a single csn philly hockey writer has covered the D- grade the fans have given chuckles, scott and the org? - corduroy
Do they normally cover stuff from competing media outlets to give them free traffic?
That being said, Im not sure they have ever covered anything from the Athletic. |

Looks like the 2023 draft will be in Nashville. Will this be where we get to see the Flyers pick 6th after they get screwed on the ping pong balls? |

The expectations of this team are obviously low. I can’t speak for others but I’ll watch every game. I don’t believe it’s time to move on from Couturier but sometimes a player brings more value by being shipped out rather then staying. If Sean Couturier can bring you back the same return Mike Richards and Jeff Carter brought us, I think you have to move him. Dropping JvR’s contract in one year’s time will be huge for this team. I don’t know how you add a Deslauriers type deal knowing this. |

The Athletic poll has no merit. The Flyers internal numbers and data show a strong interest from the fan base and a strong favorable view of the franchise overall.
Dave Scott gets top tier information fed to him from the crack analytics team and country club. Much more reliable than some random sampling from The Athletic. |

Absolutely. He will/can make a diff in close games and series.
Just tired of the same clichés by players. It is nauseating. Rather Couturier just say nothing. |

He does not have that value at this time. He needs to show he is 100% healthy and productive. Would have easily got that type of return at that 2021 deadline or last summer.
In theory losing his contract will help. Seeing who the GM is it will probably do more harm. |
