The Kadri signing improves them at center. Most long term UFA signings come with some risk.
-MJL
Before his last season with Colorado (one of the best offensive teams in the league), Kadri's high in points was 61 points. The worst thing I think a team can do is sign a FA who happens to have had a career year the same year he was eligible for free agency. Given what the Flyers are paying Hayes, its not the AAV that I think is out of whack, its the length of the contract. I wonder what teams Calgary was competing against that they had to go to 7 years? |

Looks like the 2023 draft will be in Nashville. Will this be where we get to see the Flyers pick 6th after they get screwed on the ping pong balls? - MBFlyerfan

He is never playing again in my opinion. - MBFlyerfan
I’m curious as to why?
They’ve never really come out and said exactly what the injury is. Or surgery needed or timeframe. Neither has Ellis. There’s definitely more to the story |

It’s free agency dude, he wasn’t signing a short term deal. Are you totally unaware how any of this works? |

Really? Where’s g playing? Oh forgot about that.
I never said I was an insider. Always just said what was told by people close to me that were credible. One was right the other was also right. Jg would be in Philly if trade went down at draft. As reported by many “in the know” doesn’t mean anything other than that |

Maybe Kadri himself would only sign if max term.

Slightly better, slighty worse, who knows until the puck drops.
The real point tho is... they were on the edge of the cliff and Treveling pulled off a series of VERY difficult moves to get things back on track.
Contrast that with Chuck, who's spent every last cent and wasted a bunch of draft picks turning a bubble team into a pathetic bottom feeder. - Tomahawk
Can't argue here. It seems to me that if Aggressive Retool was really the Flyers plan, this off-season was the perfect one to do just that. Either Fletcher totally misread the market or a retool was never really in their plans. However, you don't sign JD and trade for Tony DeAngelo if you want to tank for a top 3 pick either. So the only conclusion I am left with is Fletcher did not have a plan and totally bleeped this thing up! |

This is the biggest mystery injury in sports history.
I would not discount there is more to it in any way.

Yes, its free agency, and the market dictates what a player's value is. Kadri remained unsigned until now, why is that? That is why I asked the question, who was Calgary competing against that they had to go to 7 years? |

But if no team is willing to do that, he signs for what he can get or he sits, right? |

Honestly I think he simply didn’t want to leave Nashville. It’s great for hockey players. Good weather low taxes good environment
Obviously he was banged up. Let the body and mind rest and recharge. Let the desire to play heal after going to such poop team. Work way back then request trade. |

So you guessed correctly on something that the entire hockey world was also speculating was a possibility with regards to Giroux?
You posted that Gaudreau to the Flyers was a done deal.

I assume you mean ND. Actually some may argue that's exactly who you sign. Not as an outrageous thought as you may think initially.
He has no plan. That is confirmed.

I think it is more about the total dollar value. Would you rather pay $49mil over 5 years or 7 years? If some team was willing to pay that over 5 years he would have signed there.
