1st Round Pick
One of Holmberg, Ambruzzese or Steeves
Jake Muzzin
For
Patrick Kane (50% retained)
Kane gives them the extra piece in the top 6 they need this year. Chicago takes the final two years of Muzzin (only 4 million real salary vs. a $5.6 cap hit) to make the cap work for the Leafs and get a couple decent prospects and a 1st round pick to do it.
Moving Muzzin makes room for Sandin who is without a spot right now.
While also making the Blackhawks roster worse and helping them bottom out for Bedard. - MrBen

Easy.
Patrick Kane for Ryan Ellis
Straight up. (Insert Rounders Teddy KGB accent)
My teams GM was dumb enough to believe Ellis was healthy, why can’t Chicago’s gm be just as stupid. - Shrike
Because they fired that guy. If Bowman was still in charge, you'd have a shot at that one. I can't see Davidson making a trade with Kane and not getting back either young prospects or high picks.
As someone already mentioned, Kane has a very large say in where he goes, so it will definitely limit the return. I can see something like the Giroux return where they get a 1st, a good prospect and a something extra.
It’s gotta be a team with their window wide open to closing…because if you’re window is just opening then wait to sign him for free next year. In canvassing those types of teams, I would go with Colorado making the best pitch.
And around and around we go. I'm pretty sure it was 2 1st's and Makar for Karlsson. Then it was 2 1st's and Byram for Hall. Then 2 1st's and Barron for Giroux. So 2 1st's and Girard for Kane sounds about right.
Edit: You know it was also 2 1st's and Newhook for Giroux. The same Newhook who is now seemingly incapable of taking over 2C for Kadri even though he had 33 points in 71 games averaging 13 minutes a night and only showing up on PP2 later in the year and in the playoffs.
Way too many trade offers that give the Hawks nothing but millstones in return for Kane then expecting Chicago to retain 50% of his contract and cap hit.

He's a rental with a huge salary and a NMC. They're not gonna get some crazy ransom.

I'm sure they'll happily retain salary and take back an unwanted contract to make the numbers work. To think they wouldn't get a 1st and a high end prospect I think is not being serious.

Chicago needs bodies, and 3 young forward bodies with NHL experience won’t hurt the Hawks, where the CBJ can have a unit of Gaudreau—Jenner—Kane—Laine—Werenski on PP1

Remember it’s Colorado so their firsts are going to be so late in the round, that they are not nearly worth as much. If it was even projected to be a mid first rounder, I would drop it to just one pick.
Also remember that Kane is still a top ten player in the league. Better than Giroux, Kadri, Karlsson or Hall.
Also also remember that rentals almost always get first rounders plus a prospect at the deadline.

Top ten yes, but with a full NMC. He'll only go to a team that is a contender. Those teams have no cap space, and won't be able to re-sign him if he keeps playing at his usual level. Kane is only 33, so you're looking at a deal for what is likely a one year rental. He's worth a lot, but these factors reduce his value. Nowhere near as low as some of these proposed trades, but you can pretty much rule out multiple firsts.
Full NMC Kane will strike down best deals from mid level teams.
So that leaves Avs, Flames, Lightening and maybe the Canes in the mix.
The Canes get the nod for best offer and most cap room with LTIR. They don’t force a cap dump contract back but only retention. Hawks get two 2nd draft picks in consecutive years and 2 prospects A & B.

Nylander’s on his way out we all know that Justin Hall is garbage you can’t pay a guy 3 million to play 11 minutes a night and get no points and be a minus Sandin is the actual chip in the trade ……. He wants 4.25 mill for 2 years…. And Willy like I said he’s on his way out man !! - Mitchellbrazeau
Kane's contract is structured so that he's owed 4 million in a bonus and 2.9 million in salary this season (even though he counts for 10.5 AAV, his deal was heavily front loaded) and Chicago has already paid the bonus. So they'd be taking a 2nd for assuming $725k in cash. I think they'd do that.
Yes. The new noise on trading Kane is probably being further hyped since NHL VP Daly said he expected the cap to go up significantly a year earlier than previously projected. Reasonable to think cap will jump up to a range of $90 to 96m. after completion of 22-23 season.
Means many more teams might be open to looking to acquire Kane on a longer term deal.
Best fit for Kane is Ottawa where he would play on the second line with Stutzle and DeBrincat.
To Ottawa Senators - Patrick Kane (3 years @7.5m extension)
To Chicago Blackhawks - Alex Formenton, Tyler Boucher, Erik Brannstrom, Nikita Zaitsev, 2023 1st
*Mind you Sens don't need another top 6 forward, rather a right D-man - AlfieisKing
A sign and trade ($6.5mx 4) works. Ottawa has many talented prospects and could further sweeten to pot. Also, Chicago might be able to add a solid RHD into the deal.
