Lou was prepared to spend money on Kadri? Based on what evidence? And I thought at the last minute the story was "Lou has a plan but it might not involve Kadri"
Here are some facts. It appeared like Lou had lots of cap space, but he also needed to sign Dobson and Romanov and Bellows to extensions. Once that was finalized, he only had about $2M left. So signing Kadri was never really an option unless he can escape a big contract. Most of the guys he'd like to move have NTC's. The only other options are Barzal and Bailey. I doubt he trades Barzal, and nobody wants Bailey without some serious sweeteners.
So the story about being close on Kadri makes no sense. Nor does adding JT Miller.
I know this is a pipedream, but looking at it anyways. Would it be worth it for the Wild (and would Van do it). Thinking something like Miller and Tanner Pearson to the Wild. Then Van get Tyson Jost, Jordan Greenway, Ryan O'Rourke and a 3rd Rd pick that is conditional on the Wild getting to Western Conference finals. Then that pick becomes a 2nd.
allegedly Lou has been in on any big name that's come around this season, and has failed to land anyone. either nobody wants to play in Long Island, or they dont think the team is ready to contend. Hes not going to the Islanders. as for NJ, they couldnt land Gaudreau and now they think they can convince JR that they're a contender? nope. Rangers dont have the cap space for him and would likely be a longer contract that would be ugly in a few years, like Trocheck. He will be in Vancouver until the deadline.

One team that actually makes sense is Columbus. Not today. But if we're sitting here in a few months and the Canucks are out of playoff contention, while Columbus is hanging around a playoff spot, then they could target Miller. He gives Columbus a legit 1C (sorry Boone Jenner) and with a contract like Nyquist expiring next summer they would have the cap space to extend him longer-term. Boston is another team full of expiring contracts that could acquire Miller at the deadline and then easily extend him. But sure, metro NY, Lou, top sources...

Well word on the street is if Kirby Dach untaps his potential under MSL I will purchase his jersey, not only because he has the best name in hockey but also he is a beast that still has superstar potential.
What's up, Dach?
Other than that we can sit back, kick our feet up knowing the franchise is in good hands and enjoy a stress-free season watching our young bucks blossom.

I don't see CBJ being as improved as many expect. BOS is a good suggestion.
