What type of production do you expect from Hayes and Couturier going forward?

Do the Flyers have any great contracts on the books?

Thanks Torts was stating what I have known and stated for a few years now! For those of you who don't believe culture, identity and accountability matters on a team, I don't know what more I can say except you are just wrong!
- jd250

Just simply buzzwords that some fans throw around with no clue what they mean. You can hold any player accountable but a lack of talent will still show through. A team cannot play with identity without the players to do so. A winning culture is created by winning and to do that you need talent.

Speaking of wrong. Remember your claims in the off season of 21 when you claimed the moves Fletcher made changed the culture of the team. To paraphrase that they removed the disease named Voracek from the locker room?
You have zero credibility or standing to tell anyone that they are wrong.

Really? If he was on just last years cup finals teams where o
Would he slot? On either team? You obviously don’t know a think about todays nhl. Cup level teams don’t just throw a coots out there 20 minutes a game against the other teams top players. THE TOP PLAYERS HAVE TO MANO O MANO DURING GAME. Coots would slot over Big Mac/kadri? Tampas Players? You gonna take ice time away from any of those for coots? You’re nuts. He’d be a 15-18 minute 3c 2nd pp player. Leader on pk that’s what he’d be.

And you’d be absolutely insane to sign him for 8 years at almost 8 mil per at age 30.

Couturier would be a 20 minute all situations player on any team in the league.

I guess you are missing my point. You seem adamant that it will turn out well while I'm very suspicious of this deal. You are focused on the AAV and I am focused on the term.

The only thing I'm focused on is that I know how good of a player that Couturier is. 7.75M for a player of his caliber is a very good deal. As I have said repeatedly. There is always some risk in signing a player to a long term 8 year deal.

The lack of talent on this team is precisely why they are not a playoff or cup contender. But it is not the reason this team for the past several seasons has been plagued with poor starts, not playing 60 minutes (e.g. last season their 2nd periods were atrocious!), not playing attention to detail, not playing with any structure, leaving their goalies out to dry on many occasions, horrible line changes, etc. etc. It is one thing to play the right way and lose to a better, more talented team. But it is an entirely different thing to play poorly and without consistent effort. That points to an accountability problem amongst the players. Justin Braun eluded to this also in an interview during last season with Jason Myrtetus.

I am just going to ignore your other childish comments about credibility, since clearly you have none, nor do you have the capacity for an intelligent back and forth!

No tool. There’s some risk signing a younger player to 8 years.

It’s a certainty with old older players.

You try to equate this risk along the same lines as each other.

It’s not the same risk

I agree that talent is not the reason for all of it but talent is the reason for most of it. The other issue has been poor coaching. Effort has not been the problem. It's other issues masking as a lack of effort and a mis read by fans such as yourself.

It's a shame that you have chosen to ignore it because it's an opportunity for you to look within and realize that somebody that has been wrong as much as you have, which is pretty much all the time. Has no business telling anyone else that they're wrong. You laughingly claimed the culture was changed in the summer of 21. I told you were full of it. Who was correct? Again! it's amazing, in pretty much every encounter between you and I, the result has been the same and you have been proven wrong. Yet you somehow come to the conclusion that I have no credibility and you question my intelligence. Just more of the same from you. Completely hollow and meaningless babble.

It's not a certainty with an older player. Again, you don't have the facts. Players of Couturier's age are signed to long term deals frequently in the NHL. There have been at least 3 such deals made recently.
