Agreed, I loved being able to watch all the different teams on ESPN+ last season especially the playoffs.

I get that people are upset they can't watch the game on regular TV but being on ESPN+ allows more hockey fans to see the game. Enable for the sport to grow in needs a wider audience.

You can give fans a medium to attract a wider audience to grow the sport without shutting out the hometown team fans. I pay a bunch of money every month to Comcast in part to be able to watch the Flyers every year.

Totally agree, but this is the NHL doing not the Flyers. I think they should open it up to the local market but Bettman signed the contract and does not think of the local markets only the overall league.

I don't agree. We already pay plenty to Comcast for cable and they own the team. The local fans that pay for these services should NOT be shutout or forced to pay extra to see games. I don't care how much extra cause it's about the principle. Anyway, looks like I may have given out false info about the number of games the Flyers are on national TV. This morning I am seeing that it is 9 games. The other info I had was from a Flyers fan FB page, so there is that. I dunno...

It's the only reason I have Comcast at all.

I have Hulu Live. I really like the service. It has NBC Sports Philly and all local Philly stations. Haven't had traditional cable for about 8 years now. Hulu's customer service is a million times better than any cable company I have ever had.

ESPN+ is only $7.99 per month. SO I do not mind paying it. I think it is ridiculous that local fans are blocked from watching the game without a subscription though.

It’s a no brainer lol. Yea, I think the numbers of average viewer also went up on games this past season, might have just been playoffs. I think the ESPN move was a success for the league.

Total BS that the local broadcast was shutout. Didn’t have that issue being outside of PA

I think overall it was. I am mildly surprised by that. ESPN+ was awesome though. Cheap overall and I watched more hockey than I ever have last year. Just less Flyers.

I do the triple play: ESPN+, Disney+ and Hulu live. I have Disney because of kids and I am a Star Wars geek. The package is like $74 and ESPN+ is basically free. Love hulu, we basically on have live hulu for hockey, after the season/playoffs is over we turn live off. My bill then becomes $15 a month.

Not crazy at all. I've always enjoyed indoor lacrosse. Went to a few Wings games back in the day and they were pretty well attended. I'm not even sure if they are still around to be honest, but it was a very entertaining product with many of the elements of hockey.

Back in the day as in the 70s? That was a fun time - my folks were season ticket holders - went to many, many games with them.

Being on ESPN+ and screwing over the local TV market by forcing them to subscribe to see a handful of exclusive games is horrible. The local TV market should always be able to watch the games on their standard local/cable channels.

Also, playoffs are not ESPN+ - they're on standard cable channels

Can you get flyers games, on Hulu, if you are in the Philly area?

I was getting the triple pay before the NHL went to ESPN+, so when the NHL moved to ESPN+ it actually saved me the cost of paying for Center Ice.

Two Cable behemoths battling it out. Disney VS Comcast. And we get caught in the middle.

Dude, i am pretty sure every game was on the radio. I would sit on the deck and listen to the first period sometimes. What stations did you try to find them on?

It depends on what your definition of a hockey city is. If it's that hockey is the biggest sport in town then no. It has never been that way in Philadelphia. Even when the Flyers were relevant.

I wasn’t going to watch the game anyway. The only thing that I really want to see at the opener, is how committed the fans are to booing this garbage franchise.

I wanted to watch. Pre season games haven’t been played yet. I wanna see who is impressing. Wade Allison seems to be a story the last few days.
