Really is bizarre when you look back

I'll cut him a little slack for Dal Colle, because that wasn't a particularly good draft class. But he should have taken Nylander or Ehlers for sure. Nobody else between 5-10 turned out great.

But taking Reinhart when 5 of the next 7 picks were Rielly, H. Lindholm, Dumba, Trouba, and Forsberg....that was atrocious

I could be wrong but wasn’t Reinhart picked right where he was predicted to?

More or less yeah, but he still doesn't get a pass from me for botching the 4th overall pick when you have an entire professional scouting staff at your disposal. Especially when the next run of picks featured kids that ending up being anywhere from very good to star players.

I agree I wasn’t handing out passes I just remember nobody saying it was a reach when they drafted him lol

Fast passes? So you don't have to wait in line when you take your child wife to Disney?

Right, like I have the bandwidth for that. Your new bride has been taking up too much of my time and sausage recently.

Losing Chara and to some extent Greene is a major upgrade alone.. adding Romanov is an upgrade b/c it means you will not have a 48 year old, 7 foot tall traffic cone getting top pairing minutes. It also means that Pulock and Pelech will be back together instead of having to break them up to make up for the horrific play or your "Veteran adds".

This team got to the ECF twice using solid defense and great goaltending tandoms. IMO they have that again... and the forwards are all good 2 ways lines. Last year they of course started on the road for first month which wasn't a great way to start the season, but they were around .500 until they had 8 or 9 starters go into the Covid Protocal and we lost 11 games in a row with an AHL team on the ice. That is what officially sunk their season. ... the NHL only allowed (aloud) that to happen to San Jose and the Islanders. As soon as a team in Canada began having multiple people with Covid they had no problem cancelling games.

Easy there Buddy. No positivity please. Lets keep it at disappointing and we're (frank)ed.

While we're posting incredibly riveting former-Islander news:

Florida Hockey Now has learned the #FlaPanthers will have veteran goalie J-F Berube in camp on a PTO. He was with the #CBJ organization last season.

I am pretty sure that most on these boards wanted Dumba or Trouba going into that draft if Murray unless we moved up to try and get murray/Yak. So while Reinhardt wasn't exactly a reach... he wasn't who anyone on here wanted... and ironically these boards have been MUCH better at choosing our picks in the first round than our GM's.

We did get Pelech in the 3rd of that draft though... and traded Reinhardt to essentially get Barzal and Beau.

I was talking more along the lines of mock drafts by the so-called experts. For some reason I feel like everybody knew he was the pick but who knows it was a while ago

I was just pointing out that most of us on here are usually better than our GM's with who we feel should be picked in the first round most of the time. that's pretty nuts to me. .. in the MDC draft I had never heard of him during discussions. We talked about Sanheim, Milano, and Nylander. In the Strome draft we wanted Hamilton and Couturier if Huberdeau and Larsson were gone. 2010 we talked about Gudbranson, connoly, skinner and Cam Fowler. No one mentioned Nino

I would like to take this opportunity to point out that I strongly said we should have taken Phil Tomasino over Holmstrom in 2019 and was proven right
