No one can consider this off-season a win for the Islanders, they seem to be with the mentality that having a regular season without major travel like last season with the arena not being ready, and players playing better under Lambert then they did for Trotz will get them to win.
I don’t see it, but time will tell I guess. |

Let’s wait and see where the team is at around Thanksgiving time before we even think about disappointment. If the players gel and coaching uses them correctly the season should go well. This team needs at least 15 more wins minimal.

With four solid centers down the middle, I will take our forward group.
Lee is the wildcard if Nelson matches his previous production.

I am disappointed in the lack of change but at this point lets see if last years was a fluke as much of management thinks.
If they are 12 and 3 by Thanksgiving, I may be more supporting. .500 or less will not be acceptable. |

This guy would be worth giving up draft picks to sign an offer sheet.
Topping his list is the Dallas Stars’ Jason Robertson. The 23-year-old winger has blossomed into a first-line scorer who was the Calder Trophy runner-up in 2021. Fox wonders if the Stars will attempt to sign Robertson to a long-term deal that could look like a bargain down the road or ink him to a bridge deal that hands the winger more leverage for his next contract.

Losing Chara and to some extent Greene is a major upgrade alone.. adding Romanov is an upgrade b/c it means you will not have a 48 year old, 7 foot tall traffic cone getting top pairing minutes. It also means that Pulock and Pelech will be back together instead of having to break them up to make up for the horrific play or your "Veteran adds".
This team got to the ECF twice using solid defense and great goaltending tandoms. IMO they have that again... and the forwards are all good 2 ways lines. Last year they of course started on the road for first month which wasn't a great way to start the season, but they were around .500 until they had 8 or 9 starters go into the Covid Protocal and we lost 11 games in a row with an AHL team on the ice. That is what officially sunk their season. ... the NHL only allowed (aloud) that to happen to San Jose and the Islanders. As soon as a team in Canada began having multiple people with Covid they had no problem cancelling games. |
