I have no issues with the advertisement on jerseys at all. And I started going to the Forum in 84 so I get the whole sentimental value thing some people feel about the jersey! But would have repeated cup runs (80’s) be less exciting because of a blue patch? Would seeing the Habs’ last 50 goal scorer score his 50th goal been any different? Would have the Habs coming back from a 1-3 series deficit to eliminate the Leafs been less sweeter! Not likely! HABS FOREVER!

you could always raise money for charity, and pledge that after a certain amount you'll wear a Drouin jersey in public for 24 hours...

Whoa!!! I already raised $46,000 this year for lung cancer as my dad passed away in 2013 from that!!

There’s nothing that can cure a “team cancer”!!

Haha!! Jokes!! Joking…..dealing…..deep breathing….passed out….

I get all that, and you do make a valid point, but I think the main concern is that it might not stop at that little blue RBC patch...

And I didn’t have to run a marathon or anything! Just something I started and it took off amongst close family and friends….and their friends. It’s nice, but doesn’t bring anyone back.

Hains: The Sainte-Flanelle Is No Longer Sacred

The Canadiens announced yesterday that RBC had become their official game jersey sponsor through a multiple year deal.

- Karine Hains

been following the Habs for 50 years and I don't give a flying (frank) about this patch.
if the Yankees can have a Nike logo, pretty sure Habs can have a RBC one.
the writing was on the wall.

Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki and KTM are all going to have big adds on the back of the Habs jersey.

Are you telling me that if the Habs have 10 patches on their jersey you’ll stop being a Habs’ fan? I don’t think so! 😉

Montreal is more than it’s jersey! It’s pride in playing for Montreal! It’s being the loudest building in the league. It’s Carey Price, Saku Koivu, Guy Carboneau, Patrick Roy, Larry Robinson, Guy Lafleur, Jean Beliveau, Maurice Richard, etc… It’s great players playing their best for the team… for us!

as much as I am not suprised they introduced this patch, I highly doubt they will go there and add more.

yeah, I love the habs, but if their jerseys start looking like this

...then I might lose interest, yes. it's not even a matter of boycotting or anything, it's more the principle of being able to recognize what you're cheering for. if the team needed these ads to survive, perhaps I'd see it differently, but it's far from being the case. it's the way I see it anyway.

Fair enough… Mtl doesn’t need it to survive but other teams might! I don’t think it will ever be that bad.
