Loved Greer's game last night. Also Stralman looked steady. Not going to light the world on fire, but makes good decisions with the puck.

Loved Greer's comments after the game too. He even mentions he styles his game after Lucic. He's got decent size and is willing to hit and drop the gloves. Throw in a decent scoring touch and based on a small sample size he's a perfect 4th liner (or even 3rd). Yeah, get rid of the dead weight (pretty much everyone brought in last off-season except perhaps Forbort).

I would love to see the pressure put in Nosek and Frederic. Both are clearly very comfortable. I'd mention Foligno but in his latest presser he's acknowledged that he is off to a bad start here. The guy gets ringing endorsements from current players and was Bergeron's pet project last year. There has to be something left. Would be really helpful if he can produce.

Going to be interesting to see who cracks the team this year. A lot of competition and young kids looking for a spot.

Stralman did look steady. Want to see a few more games out of him. I hope they play him throughout the preseason. If he can continue that play, and sign for cheap, then it might be just what the doctor ordered. Hopefully then they can ditch one of the other, higher paid contracts on the back end (ideally reilly or gryz) for spare change.

Oh for sure! He's on a PTO. However I think he is an immediate upgrade over Reilly and if Gryz plays like he played last season than him too.

Greer looked great last night. Decent size with lots of energy and a scoring touch. Stud played well too. Frederic could find himself odd man out.
- bluemoon737

I would play Greer and Frederic over Foligno and nosek. Even if its not their natural position.

Studnicka is going to find himself on the outside looking in again I think. Might get a chance at the beginning, but once marchand comes back and the lineup normalizes he will likely be a healthy scratch or play in providence.

Problem is he can't be sent down without clearing waivers. No way he clears, someone will pick him up. He either plays or is traded. Sort of crowded once again at center and he isn't well suited to the 4C role. I think that decision won't come until they are comfortable they know what they have in Zacha.

Reilly yes, Gryz deserves a break...he played most of last season with a shoulder that would pop out if someone breathed on it. Interesting stat I saw on some website a couple of days ago about the league's top defensive pairings last year by the numbers. McAvoy and Gryz together were actually #2 and mostly because they didn't have nearly as many minutes together as the top pairing had. My only issue with Gryz is size.

Well, if he gets claimed, he gets claimed. Getting nothing for studnicka bothers me zero. He reminds me a lot of Jordan Caron.

Trade whichever one has the most interest. If its Reilly, great. If its Gryz, sure. You can move either one or both at this point and it likely isn't going to have a giant impact on the D going forward.

Having said that, Reilly will have a chance to play with Gryz out, so maybe he will show value enough to some team willing to throw some loose change out to get him.

If he stays healthy. Lindholm is going to have a year. Will be interesting to see how the D pairings end up to start the season and what happens when everyone is healthy. I know everyone thinks they are doomed but even with McAvaoy and Gryz out. They still have 6 NHL caliber d-men. With Stralman as a 7th.

If they sign Stralman, I could see this being a potential starting D lineup to begin the season:

Lindholm - Stralman
Zboril - Carlo
Clifton/Reilly - Forbort

I think this is what they need on the defense. Also, read some quotes from Greer...does he remind anyone else of Shawn Thornton? Tough fourth liner, with a good attitude, that may be able to chip in a few goals?

The B's need someone to make other teams think twice about taking runs at their guys.

While the bruins deal with injuries, I wouldn't mind seeing Greer on the 3rd line with Coyle and Smith.

Then you have a ton of options for the fourth line. I would hope Frederic and Steen are main stays there and Foligno is a main stay in the press box.

I'm still trying to see what everyone has seen with this Steen kid. I haven't really been impressed so far. Foligno at least has a history of producing. Frederic should 100% be the odd man out to start.

Small sample size I guess. Another energy guy. Last season he was pretty hard on the puck, got to the dirty areas and created chances. At least in the games I saw.

After he was demoted, he did fairly well in providence. I would much rather see him in than Foligno. Steen at least can keep up with the play.

Jury is out on Frederic. Always left wanting more. Unless injuries are rampant though, I would 100% prefer Foligno to be in the press box. Sorry to say it, hope he sees 0 games this year.

I mean, there is always the hope that he turns his game around under Montgomery. I want that to happen, but at this point I would rather the kids get the ice time.

Lets be clear, Foligno is a class act off the ice. No disputing that. On the ice, just painful to watch.

With Hall out week-to-week the youngsters are going to get good looks. Might be a good thing (as long as it's not too long) to see if any of them can step up and form some chemistry.

I don't think Foligno has anything left in the tank.

Would rather a younger player learning the game take a spot than Foligno at this point.

Plenty of ex-devs on that roster. Brutal news on Hall. Short of having a few rookies hitting the ground running, this is going to be a rough start to the season by the looks of things. Hopefully the boys can keep the train on the rails until they get some healthy bodies back.
