Since they announced Ellis is done for the year and once Couturier's second opinion comes back grim, because why wouldn't it, I bet Fletcher makes it through the year with more blame on injuries and bad luck. - TobyFlenderson
Trying to find some positives. Lot of kids that seemed to plateau over the last few years do have a legit chance. If your into your 20’s and been a pro for a few seasons it’s time…some, (most) have had injuries so now that they are healthy let’s see what we got. If you can’t beat out guys like Brown, MacEwen and Anisamov then you probably aren’t going to be a regular NHL’er at any time. - landros 2
What happens when you are not given a legit opportunity to beat them out?
Its worse than that, Ellis' career is probably over. This makes the DeAngelo signing seem much more sensible. The only silver lining here for the Flyers is they can at some point trade Ellis' contract to a team that needs to get to the cap floor, as they have done in the past. Ellis' cap hit would be nice to get back for future use. Still, I feel awful for Ellis and the Flyers, he would have been a great defenseman for the Flyers. - jd250
The absolute worst thing this Flyers management can possess is cap space.....
I just read that McCrossin and Raffa dropped their lawsuit. They are both still employed by the Flyers/Comcast, but it sounds like McCrossin’s is now a “senior advisor “, which I guess means he still collects a salary and benefits and gets to hang out with Clarkie. The Flyers also announced they hired a new head athletic trainer, and physical therapist/rehab coordinator who I guess take over McCrossin and Raffa’s jobs? I hope the both got BIG payouts. - Dkos
For real? That is awesome if true. Guy did a bad job in his area of expertise.
Now doing right by him with benefits and the like, maybe a job for life is commendable.
So Brown had off-season back surgery and is week-to-week. I didn’t see any mention of when exactly. I guess this is the reason for the Anisimov PTO.

It's very obvious Fletch knew this all along. He spent money like it was always the case, that he always had that LTIR money available. If there was any chance Ellis could come back and back them into that bad of a cap situation he wouldn't have signed DeAngelo or Deslauriers.
Ellis was never playing and his career is over. - MBFlyerfan
agree but the last part is the part that has to be frustrating. Players just don't give up, I fear that CF does not know beyond this season.

If your not picking the best players …then that’s an organizational failure. If that happens it’s pretty hard to be a winner. Winning teams pick the best players.

What I’m hoping to see from tho coaching staff is handing out “defined“ roles, starting with Morgan Frost. Whether you have faith in him or not, he has ability. He’s the only pure playmaker we have. I’d put him in the top six and play him like he’s a ten year vet. I’d probably play him with Atkinson who is a pure shooter. There is no reason to complicate things. Stick these guys into familiar roles and run with it.
I’m with you. How in the world is this team not embracing tanking the next few years. It’s literally falling in their lap and this jack off of a GM hires Torts to try and eek out wins - ClaudeFather
We were headed for a very obvious tank. And not just a one year tank but probably a good 3 years of sucking. Then Chuck goes out and hires the only coach who can probably single handily stop the tank from continuing..
Chuck can literally do nothing right. Not a damn thing. Every move he makes is the wrong move, which is exactly how we got here to this point.
Just imagine the jubilation of this fan base the day that they announce that Chuck has been let go
With the stellar results he enjoyed in Minnesota, who could have seen this coming? - PLindbergh31
He was a questionable hire from day 1.
I was still bummed when they didn't hire Zito as the next GM. It makes you wonder where this franchise could be today if they hired the right person

Torts isn't going to make a bit of difference except for more exciting press conferences. The Flyers have more veteran grinders on one way contracts than they do young top 6 players, no elite talent, one of the most overpaid defensive corps in the league, and no backup goalie. All the yelling in the world won't change that.
Who is the Flyers best player on opening night? Hayes? ROFL. He get's paid like a first line player, to bad he isn't one. Any bets on how many games he plays this year?
He has been here almost s long as the prior GM. Let that sink in. - furio16
Fletch could urinate on the Flyers logo at center ice during the opening faceoff and he wouldn't go anywhere. He's buddies with Clarke and now with Scott. The worst that will happen is they shuffle some titles and he keeps his second title of President of hockey operations, makes the same money, and faces less scrutiny while continuing to dismantle the Flyers.
Whether you like or dislike Hextall he was never given the security that Fletch enjoys.

Yup. This group is just robbing Comcast at this point. Complete incompetence everywhere you look.
I strongly believe Torts will end up leaving by his own decision
It'll take at least three years till this will even start to turn around. Fletcher and Torts wil be long gone. It can be fun to watch a team start from the bottom and work their way up. Any chance Jagr wants to play one more NHL season?
And where is our 2022 first round pick Cutter?
Did I miss him already being hurt and also no mention in rookie camp - konalover711
He's in college. Once again, NCAA rules prohibit a player from attending a pro camp that overlaps with any semester in which an athlete is registered for classes.
This seems to come up over and over. I did an FAQ article on the FLyers site some years ago about the complex set of rules governing camp attendance.
