Willman makes this team and we will hear the constant complaining he’s blocking a young guy |

Good news on the injury front especially with Coots. Hope its true. - Hextall271
Cautiously optimistic. Getting the horrible feeling once he's "ready " the first game gets thrusted back in he is hurt. I would get 2nd, 3rd, and 4th opinions before putting him back out on ice. |

I get what you're saying but Chuck has earned all the 2nd guessing of his decisions.
That being said, Wilman works hard and if he gets another shot, it'll be because he earned it. |

Not a great look for ASF if the "herniated disc" is just disc bulging or something much less serious. |

"There is no disputing the fact that, if one were to make a list of the top five players the Flyers could least afford to be without for any extended period of time, Couturier, Hart. and Atkinson would be at or near the very top. The others would be Kevin Hayes and Ivan Provorov."
Sanheim, who led the Flyers in ES TOI last season, is more important than Provorov, and far more important than Atkinson. Just imagine this as your top 6 D when the Flyers are forced to trade Sanheim because they can't afford his extension with Risto + Deslauriers taking up $6.85m for the next 3 years.:

My fear about Coots is that the back issue keeps popping up all season. We need to be careful with him. But yes we do need him out there.
Still don't think we are as bad as the "experts" are saying. Definitely not contenders, playoffs are a stretch, but I don't think we're "battling" for a top pick. There is no tank. Unfortunately, this would be the year to do it. |

I certainly won’t think that if one of the late-bloomers make the team. The Flyers have several in that category potentially. Willman is 27 and still in his prime. Nothing to complain about if he makes it on the team. Folks just rightly question whether the competition is legitimate and based on skills, tangible play and hard work not just a popularity contest or based on off-ice intangibles. Hopefully, Torts keeps it real for us fans.

I like Sanheim but, no, he is not more important than Provorov. He is slotted right where he should be: second pair LD. Would like to see him get more PP2 time than he's ever really been given a full opportunity at in the NHL.

Well have to see, but with Ellis out all year I think we’re a bottom 5 team. Kids could step up and torts may be able to coax some extra out of them but I think we’ll be in that Zone By Black Friday.
To me it’s the issues with d. Without Ellis you’ve got tda playing all kinds and likely on the top pair. I envision large swaths of time hemmed in our zone with our g under sever pressure. That’ll lead to a high lottery pick

Would he be part of any team's PK? Yes. Would he be at least counted on as one of their top 5 or 6 offensive players? On most teams, yes (and higher than that on the Flyers). Is he part of any team's leadership core? Yes.
That's a player you can ill-afford to lose for any extended period. |

With York, Zamula and Attard expecting to make the big club at some point in a year or two, the Flyers either have to trade a player to resign Sanheim or they have to trade Sanheim. The Flyers currently have too much tied up in their defense with Ellis, DeAngelo, Provey and Risto accounting for roughly $20M in cap space. Sanheim IMO is not good in his own end and though he rushes the puck well, how many of those rushes ends up in the back of the other team's net? Just not worth the $6M+ he will command in the open market IMO. Thus, I would rather the Flyers trade Sanheim at this year's deadline and hopefully get some good 2023 draft capital. |

York is on the team already. Zamula and especially Attard are far from a sure thing making the big club. |

I think Sanheim was there most consistent d man last year in the last 30 games or so. He seemed to settle in defensively and started to rush more which to me is his top trait. (When he carries the puck out of the d zone and uses his speed to gain the offensive zone). I think he’ll get 5 year 6 mil per. If Ellis is shot then I think they will resign him. With Sanheim I’m always wanting a more consistent game, he has shown glimpses of a really solid game…hopefully this year he continues to bring that more often , because he should be coming into his prime years.
He’s not physical in his own end but you don’t have to be if you have a good stick and are positionally sound, which he was to finish off last season. |

Fact is if he was on a contending team they really will not miss him all that much in any significant way.
I am not so sure he is a part of every teams PK (top 4)off the top of my head or in most teams top 6. Maybe bottom teams like the Flyers I suppose.
Then by your description he should have good trade value no? |

I think Attard just needs a bit more seasoning….I think Zamula is there. Not sure things, but it depends on what this years about. Growth and development or trying to squeeze out 10 more points. |

Now do that same lineup without Provorov. It is worse. The Flyers need both Provy and Sanheim to make the top 4 work right now. Also if one of them is out long term, I hope Zamula gets a shot in the top 6 over Seeler—Nice guy for the 7th slot and short fill in.

Agreed. I hope he can replicate it. As I remember, the success came while he was paired with RR. I wonder if it took time for them to gel and now we'll see what we say at the end of the season with Sanheim coming into his own? We're going to need it with what I foresee happening with the 1D pair. |
