You think Phil Myers, who got waived and demoted to the AHL last season is more steady and reliable than Justin Braun?

And Rasmus Ristolainen, who has had bad defensive results his entire NHL career and is notorious for chasing hits and giving up big plays, is also more steady and reliable than Justin Braun?

- Feanor

I don't know why it seems like the whole world is against Justin Braun. The dude plays every night, makes few mistakes, and I believe up until he was traded lead all Dmen in +/-. He's also a bargain for what you get.
Yeah, I get it - he's not one of "the kids". Well, the kids could learn a lot from him. Plays the right way.

I actually think most fans and posters here appreciate him as a player. Just an article today from NBC praising him along with Torts. Very few don’t understand what he brings. Provorov has been the squeaky wheel on that pair, not Braun

Sanheim had 31 ES points on a weak team last season.

Provorov had 22.

- Feanor

I suspect Sanheim played a ton more minutes at ES. Provorov is on for almost every penalty kill and pp unit making ES minutes reduced. Sanheim is soft imo and although pretty steady he does not excite me on this team. Mind you there are many in this category, lol. Also in defence of TDA he was not brought in the be the stellar stay at home dman. He is here to run the pp and that is his strength and he is not as bad defensively as some say. He just has lots of haters based on his previous past history on some of his beliefs. One last thing that is worthy, Gostisbehere would look pretty good right about now, haha

Hart hurt after a minor collision?

Awesome.

That makes me feel totally secure he can handle the load.

It's great he as tough as tissue,
bodes well for a lottery pick.

I hope I am wrong but Seen a couple interviews of Carter Hart recently and it sure looks like something is off. His interviews as a rookie were more confident to me and now he appears he could be lost and is fragile. The Team Canada incident must be playing havoc for the players involved that actually know the truth. I fully expect Sandstrom to steal his job. Like I said I hope I am really wrong because I love Carter Hart but performances come first.

Has him or Fletcher come out and say he was not a part of it? I know some players have denied being involved.

Willman makes this team and we will hear the constant complaining he’s blocking a young guy

"There was also some national news from Ren Lavoie regarding Sean Couturier's back injury. Lavoie tweeted that Couturier could return in three to four weeks. Additionally, Couturier spoke with a group of Flyers season ticket holders on Sunday and said that he feels much better than the dire initial report from Crossing Broad stated."

Imagine how your confidence would wane if you had to play goal with the crappy team that chuckles has assembled in front of you

Face it, your disdain for the kid is irrational. You even entirely ignore the favorable comments in today’s story about him. Meanwhile, you have a not so secret favorite. It is just hard to align the two.

Goalies can lose confidence. That is a thing. We’ll have to wait to see what’s going on here. Fortunately, the cupboard is not bare at this position. With the two swedes and the high-performing AHL player signed by Chuck, we should have some reason for optimism with this position.

What do todays blogs comments have to do with us discussing that pre season game yesterday? You are talking nonsense. I hope the kid makes an impact, I’m not counting on it though. He had a good scrimmage, wonderful. Follow it up with a dominant rest of camp and pre season.

It isn’t nonsense. Whatever good plays he may make in a game is never enough for you. That’s why I referenced it because you just ignore plays that don’t support your views. I agree about what we need to see but I think he has shown he can do it and now needs to prove it.

Not a different organization but moved down from the parent team to their J20 squad. He's dominated two games there and pulled down 20 mins of ice time but nothing has gone in yet despite 14 shots on goal in two games. I'm not worried about that. I'm more worried about finding a level that more challenging for him yet in which he's ready to compete right now.

A loan to a Mestis (Finnish minor league) team might be about right for now. I still wish he'd played OHL last season.

He's also played a few games on the Finnish national J20 team. Did score a goal for them.

Good news on the injury front especially with Coots. Hope its true.
- Hextall271

Ellis was day to day. Now he could have retired if it wasn't for the salary cap hit it would have created. But i hope Couturier comes back close to what Chuck preaches.

Thanks. Any insight as to why he didn’t want to play in the OHL?

Chuck sold 223 season tickets 🎟 just on that somewhat positive news.

Consider just what has been mentioned in these very pages the past 10 days or so:

1. They have sharply discounted packages of 4 tix.
2. Bundy is upset that ex-stars have been cajoled into reaching out to sth.
3. Torts sends a letter to sth
4. Sean makes another preemptive overture to sth.

In addition. Bryz has mentioned that Paul Holmgren admonished/requested him for saying 'we have to win the next x games or we will not be in playoffs" because of tix sale concerns.

It goes to show fused hockey and hockey biz/$ are for the Flyers, which is exactly the way common sense would dictate that it is as what is after all, a comopany selling its product.

The timing of the Ellis announcement "out for season" was clearly preplanned - when it would be buried under lots of other news, including camps, new coach, pre-season etc. Couts's injury was not planned and could throw a wrench into sales.

Ergo, this.

Had his heart set on playing pro hockey. AHL was his first choice, Liiga his second choice. That's fine if you can hang in one of these leagues at age 18. But he was overmatched in the AHL (preseason end-to-end goal aside) and has also struggled in Liiga.

OHL would have been the right challenge last year. Mestis might be about right this season.

Either which way, the Flyers should have steered to Canadian major junior a year ago. I also don't think the Finnish national J20 league is sufficiently challenging for him at 19 beyond getting his timing down.

Seems he may have got bad advice from his agent or very hard headed.

I have to think ( or hope ) Flyers steered him to OHL but he ultimately didn’t want it. How hard they pushed? No idea
