Funny, the Sens have been in on Chyc since the beginning but are now left out of your list. I think his subpar play AND a rash of injuries are adding buyer beware to the absurd asking price.
I heard different rumblings on Robertson. He's gonna get a nice bridge deal. Stars have cap issues. They like the player, want to pay the player - need to figure out how.
Not much to say about Sandin. Seems like Eric Brannstrom. Lots of hype and promise not much delivery. |

If I was AZ.. I would be all over the Sens.. they got the pieces that would really help.. they could get a nice package of kids and picks. |

I have also heard some consideration given to a possible Philadelphia Flyers trade, that would send Chychrun back to the city he lived in when his father played there.
Jakob Chychrun was born in Boca Raton, Florida, 4 years after his dad played his last NHL game. |

Teams interested, at this point, are the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Montréal Canadiens, the Buffalo Sabres, or the Florida Panthers, the St. Louis blues, the New York Rangers, the Boston Bruins, and the New York Islanders. Yes that is a lot and I’m sure many more are considering it. - Eklund
So I'm confused.
Are you are hearing two different, conflicting roomers:
- the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Montréal Canadiens and the Buffalo Sabres are interested
- the Florida Panthers, the St. Louis blues, the New York Rangers, the Boston Bruins and the New York Islanders are interested.
Which is it?
And is your Russian source OK?

Ek remembers running around the Spectrum as a child, watching Jakob Chychrun play mites hockey. |

This has to be one of the more bizarre blogs.
Does anybody think the Flyers are about to cough up their 1st round pick as the opening bid?
Makes more sense to restrict Flyers' thinking as merely wanting to gauge the potential return on Provolov.
I was thinking the Flyers are just behind Arizona, Chicago and Montreal in the Connor Bedard sweeps. Has something changed? |

Ek knows facts don’t matter. Wishful thinking trumps facts. Confirmation bias.

I remember a game in the late 1980's at the Spectrum. It was against Nashville. A young David Poile was running around the Spectrum during practice and was playing tag with Jeff Chychrun's son Jakob. You could just tell back then that Poile was GM material and Jakob would become an NHL defenseman like his father. Tim Kerr was on that Flyers team. So was a young Ivan Proorov. Later that season I was on the ice during the Stanley Cup celebrations. After Gretzky passed the Cup to Messier and then Lowe, I was next and did a quick lap. |

Nope. EK got it right. From Chychrun's wiki page [emphasis added]:
Early and personal life
Chychrun was born and raised in Boca Raton, Florida, when his father, Jeff, was a member of the Florida Panthers organization.[2] Prior to his birth, Chychrun lived in Philadelphia when his father played there. He is also the nephew of Luke Richardson. Both his father and uncle are former National Hockey League defensemen. His mother is Nancy Chychrun, and he has a sister, Taylor.[3][4][5] He is a dual American-Canadian citizen of Ukrainian and Jewish descent.[6][7] He attended American Heritage School in Boca Raton from Pre-kindergarten to ninth grade.[2] |

Well, if Wikipedia says a person born in 1998 lived in Philadelphia in 1991, it must be true!

I'm still trying to figure out why Chychrun is "worth" so much in a trade and why would Philly be interested?
If Sanheim wasn't a soon to be UFA, I wouldn't trade him 1 for 1 for Chychrun. Ok 2 years younger and 2 more years of term, not more established than Sanheim.
If Arizona is really shopping Chychrun than there's more to the story and if they are really selling that high (3-4 assets) then they are bluffing hard to cover up something.
Edit: Can't wait for Fletcher to make the trade and end up with another Ellis. |

Nashville was founded in 1998.............So late 1980's the Flyers played a different team or the mushrooms were working well. |

Oh right. Maybe it wasn't Nashville and was the 49'ers instead. The point is, it was clear from that game of tag with David Poile that Jeff would turn out to be better than his dad Jakob. |

To me this is The Barry Beck trade from Colorado to NYR 2.0 For you kids on the board it was a 5 for 1 trade and although it wasn't a complete bust much like Chychrun Beck was never fully healthy so his time in NY was not what it could have been. I think any team trading for Chychrun will likely have the same result.
I would still not sleep on the Kings on this one as they simply just have too many prospects.
Tradeable Assets
Forwards
Villardi 1st rd pick
Turcotte 1st rd pick although often injured
Kupari 1st rd pick
Thomas
Fagemo
Defenseman
Bjornfort 1st rd pick
Grans
Durzi*
*I'm sure the Coyotes are going to want an established dman in return.
and they have a lot of draft picks as well so I think the Kings are poised to take a big swing on him and still have more than enough prospects as they all can't play. |
