I honestly believe the only coach that can salvage Risto for the Flyers is John Tortorella. Completely selfish and reckless decision to resign Risto by Fletcher, just to save his own face. A fire-able offense right there. - jd250
You said the same thing about av. How did that work out?

Who cares if Hextal grabs him been saying for years he doesn't have NHL wheels. Can't keep up and never will be any better - hfc355
and how do you think this board will react when Hexy does? I don't really care if Hexy does, just looking forward to the crazy comments coming next

In terms of guys making the roster, Hodgson didn't stand out at all, and Ratcliffe was genuinely poor. He looked better in his 10 game stint last season. |

Why does it feel like this clip of Allison taking out his man, Tippet pouncing on the turnover, then sliding a nice pass to Hayes for his one-timer goal, is going to be shown all season long...? Hoping we have more highlights then that this season. |

I fell like he's the only GM who would do it given how off the pace Ratcliffe has looked so far, but the Pens already have a full roster so I dunno if they have room for Ratcliffe.

I agree, with their farm being light, I could see him taking him. As long as Hexy liked his progress when he was here

If they do the unthinkable and fire Chuck, there should be a long search of interviews with execs from Colorado, TB, Carolina, Florida, etc. They shouldn't just give Briere the job because he was interviewed by Montreal that one time and took night classes at Penn (and yes I realize his job is way more involved now and basically ran the ECHL team a couple of years ago, I'm being facetious).
But, this is the Flyers, and you're probably right. Fletcher will get the Holmgren treatment and Briere will move right into his position without incident. - TobyFlenderson
I don't think the Flyers will fire Fletcher until they have someone else already in place. It should have been Jeff Gorton, who Montreal smartly scooped up. I also agree that Briere is owed nothing and should not just be given the job. One person I person would like the Flyers to interview for their GM job is Stacy Roest, assistant GM of the Tampa Bay Lightning, who leads up player development: https://www.nhl.com/light.../hockey-staff/stacy-roest |

I don't recall ever stating anything about AV and Risto. In fact for most of last year I wasted my breath trying to defend Risto before it became clear, at least to me, he has no defense! |

Hextall was here 4 years ago. His progress 4 years ago is irrelevant. He hasnt progressed much.
What does he offer that the Pens do not have currently on their main roster?

Hextall can't resist scooping up former draft picks to try to show that everyone else is wrong and he is in fact the smartest person in the room. He will grab Ratcliff and try to show his drafting was fine and that the Flyers just can't develop players. |

If CF is counting on the salary cap taking a decent jump next season he is taking a risk I wouldn’t have at this point.
With inflation, utility pricing increasing, food prices going up quite a bit I can see a few NHL teams losing money this year.
For the flyers who is going to pay to go see the poor team they are putting on the ice.
If they had a marquee talent to promote maybe they could draw some interest.
I expect to see a half empty rink most of the season.
I’m curious to know where Tampa Bay will be playing.

you repeatedly said after the trade how risto was harmed by poor coaching in Buffalo and he was going to blossom into a top tier dman under the coaching of av and his top notch staff

Looks like the opposite of the 80s Oilers. No creativity, Claudes playmaking will be missed, flyers D will give up 2 easy. And i see this team hard-pressed to score more than 2 on a nightly basis. |

I inferred from the way you said it, they lost 3-1 in a pre-season game this year.

You are deliberately distorting what I said. I did say Risto's development was harmed by being in Buffalo, BUT I never said he would blossom here. What I did say was to give him a chance to blossom here under what I thought would be a more stable situation. Of course, its been anything but stable in Philly over the past 2 seasons. Still, I can't see Tort's getting fired in the next couple of seasons, so the way I see it, this is Risto's last chance. So if you want to keep embarrassing yourself, be my guest, but this is the last I will post on this topic. |
