Just curious by why are so many people already against danny briere?
He has got to be able to do a better job than fleece me feltcher, right?
Maybe he still has that clutch instinct in him and he will save us?

- Bob Habib

For me it's not so much Briere himself as it is I want to see someone with no connection to the Flyers or even the city of Philadelphia for that matter.

It's going to be more of the same with him. Flyers need someone/some people with a fresh approach and more up to date style.

Briere is not going to come in, and dictate change to the same men that hired, and trained him.

He’s just another guy that’s part of the same country club, that’s extremely likely to keep the status quo along with listening to outdated voices.

Briere would be a change for the optics, nothing more. He’s also apparently been Chuck’s right hand man recently, which is a sad fact considering how this summer went.

Only the gullible will get excited about Briere, because the network of men around him would all remain. I’d point everyone to ASF’s article not too long ago, that illustrates why they all have to go.

This. This is what the Flyers do. Here’s a familiar face who will do what we ask. The whole franchise is a joke. They shouldn’t be bringing anyone back. Let alone a guy with zero GM experience.

If anyone from Comcast had any clue they would go pry a guy away from a successful small market team. I trust anyone from Columbus or Carolina to better run this franchise.

Exactly.

Are we going to see Briere mandate change to the various incompetent department heads?

Or sell BS by just hiring a few more people that I’m sure will have more influence than the old timers.

Camillo needs to clean house of this rabble.

Listening to him speak about the club and future outlook on this team, he's either being a complete "yes man" that's going along to get along, or he legitimately holds those same archaic opinions. Both behaviors are not good for this organization, as they seemed to both be deeply rooted into that front office. Do you really want him applying what he has learned here from Chuck and the brain trust? I know he's put in time with the Mariners, and his trajectory seems to be headed for the Flyers GM job, but he's never really been part of a winning/successful organization and think he's not the right choice. He's the easy choice

Im curious on any insight from Bill regarding Briere, particularly how he might differ from the current GM. What he might change, etc.

We have heard that “they” like him, but that’s not exactly a positive thing considering who those men are.

30 days could be 12 games man
- ClaudeFather

why it is IF and not they should, it is a risk but if Hexy believes or just wants to stick it to the Flyers he could. Based upon camp so far it would be a mistake, his last 10 games last season, were decent.

If Danny wants to keep his job, he says what’s on his mind behind closed doors but openly supports his bosses in public. I’m all honesty, none of know if he’s a “yes man” or his own man with a very different idea. He was always a competitor and hated to lose. Never saw him take a shift off. Not that he’s Yzerman, but there are similarities in attitude when he was a player. To be a good leader one has to be a good follower. Once CF is gone, I am hopeful Danny B will be a breath of fresh air. Maybe I’m naive, too hopeful, gullible… or maybe he’ll be the GM that’s needed. I guess time will tell. I’m rooting for him.

Well, look at the other pairs. He’s suggesting that Braun and Provy be deployed as the second pairing instead of the first

So Sanheim is the only one who can improve the defensively handicapped DeAngelo in a top pair role?

Rousell cut….no surprise with how many younger versions with higher upside the Flyers have on the 4th line.

I don't buy all the negativity, I understand it but don't buy it. CF actually got off to a good start with Nisk and Braun, then he moves just didn't pan out, then he got desperate, which leaders cant do. Desperate with trades like RR, Ghost etc but even those could have worked better. I don't think it was an easy situation either, Hex left him with suspect prospects, aging top end talent and the need to thread the needle to make it work, then you get Covid and flat cap. The Flyers were caught in the middle, CF was dealt and middle hand. I think all of us agree they should have rebuilt, CF owns that, all leaders should, I think he would be the first to admit it. I wont call him a Buffon etc, he was trying to build a winning team and believed he could, a team I want to win, he was wrong. I do take more issue with the most recent trades, ND and TD, he had to know Ellis and Coots were big question marks, he fully earned the lack of trust from the fanbase. Y I do like the potential upside of his picks compared to Hextalls picks, we will see.

Now there is just hope, hope the kids play and raise their value, hope the TDL is his plan, hope they get a top 3 pick, hope the cap is up 10 mil in 3 seasons, hope he nails the TDL and coming Draft.

Been a fan since the 70's, besides that decade, not much has changed, watching all the games and hoping.

He should have cut bait in March when the team was already in a terrible state. Instead, he doubled down on his mistakes by extending Risto and then trading a trio of picks for TDA. I think DeAngelo can be a useful player, but the odds are high the Flyers won't make the playoffs in the two years he is contracted for.

You don’t buy the negativity after a decade of nothing? After seeing The GM here 4 years with worse results year after year. Bad deal after bad deal? Not much help by the current GM’s picks. Some seem years away. If they ever make it. Less draft picks than they should. Nothing negative at all.

Totally agree, this shat show must come to an end. Trade Provorov to Toronto for Kerfoot and Sandin, dollars work out. Provorov will never do anything in Philly with continuos bashing and on ice issues. I though he was going to be another Pitkanen without the injury woes but I was wrong.

I think he painted with a big brush, knew every players value was in the toilet, then does the only he can think of and signs RR. IF RR has a real good season, move him for whatever you can get

See I buy that, just didn’t know to say when
