I was thinking the same thing, and that came across also in episode 4 if the standard. You can start to see how woeful the flyers staff was in evaluating players before Torts arrived!

Bottom line is was used 4 minutes and struggled. Pretty tough to be effective in a game when you are basically watching. I’m hoping the guy clears waivers and gets his game together in Lehigh. J. Cates had the better camp and it’s obvious now it’s Torts that’s making the calls on players. Which is the way it should be.

Doesn't take a real genius to see Hodgson isn't an every day NHL player.

Another reason why stats do not tell the whole story. With Owen Tippet getting injured and Torts seeing Hogson struggling, Torts shortened the bench to only 10 forwards. So naturally as the game went along the Flyers were tired and the Devils took over. Burying your head in the stat sheet tells you the Flyers lost the possession battle and gave up lots of shot attempts. However watching the game and more importantly knowing the circumstances of the game is far more valuable and accurate when assessing the performance of the team!

This is an epic failure. I'm embarrassed for you. Most teams have a forward on the 4th line that plays low minutes. Game situations often dictate that. This is the first game of the season and you're using the tired card? At what point of the game did they officially get tired? The Tippet injury and Hogson not playing much had zero to do with the possession battle.

Start to see? Many have known that for a considerable amount of time. Including myself. Are you starting to see?

Yes but apparently the staff lacked even that before Torts came on

An epic failure you say? Wow! If I have to explain this for you what’s next, spoon feeding you mashed carrots while making choo-choo train sounds?

Bill,

Do you hear anything about Nolan Patrick. I see an article that states he is already ruled out for the whole season for Vegas. Just curious. Shame that his career may be over due to his issue. would guess it is the head issue, but they did not disclose the reason.

Thanks

Doubling down on foolishness. Teams routinely shorten benches during games. All through the regular season and into the playoffs. To suggest that the reason for the discrepancy is due to Flyers being tired, is ridiculously absurd. It's the first game of the season. You're routinely trying to claim superiority in insinuating that those that are more informed than you are, aren't watching the game. Reality is that there are actually people who do know the goods when they see it. Rather than those that fraudulently claim to know

I don’t think we need to read that much into this. Some coach’s gravitate to different players. Hodgson showed signs last year and vastly improved well playing with confidence. But the truth is a good stretch doesn’t alway make a legit NHL player. He has to play that way every game. I wouldn’t write him off as maybe a tweener or a decent 4th line guy, who can chip in the odd goal and fill a roll. Torts basically said he had just an ok camp….guys in Hodgson’s position have to blow the doors off in camp…he just didn’t do that.
