On another note, I just wanted to apologize for the delay in blogs. Super crazy time at my day job that I am having minimal time to get things written. I promise these will get posted more regular and at a more decent time. Appreciate you all! |

Zach no need to apologize.
real life gets priority over herding cats here.....keep up the good work
BTW...agreed...pleasantly surprised at the effort vs 2 elite-playoff teams on the road to start the year. |

Well, we could be the Kings losing 2 straight at home, to Vegas 4-3 giving up 51 shots, and to the Kracken 4-1. |

I was impressed with Roos. Much better game against Vegas I am still waiting on some grit from Domi. I like the way Toew's is playing. Like he is really pissed off. I'm glad they sent down Robinson, he was too much suck. |

Looking to other teams for our "brighter side." Hopefully, St.Louis, Nashville and Tampa will all "underachieve." |

Regarding Roos....I remember thinking Beaudin look pretty good when he came up. I'm gonna wait a minute before I get excited about him. |

Roos and Beaudin are the same age. Roos has been in the Swiss A league, has way more experience than Beaudin did when first called up.

No Regula? - LAHawk
Forgot Regula
It is not a stretch to figure these guys work out. The bigger question would become, how good each dman. A strong puck moving group,; probably solid decision makers and they can make plays.
Putting the cart in front of the horse, though, as it is premature to deduce a goal scorer might arrive vis - a - vis a trade from our stable of young dmen
I want to add, should Crevier break through then you have a giant with wing span stick as defender. If he adds some weight and muscle + a tad meaness, I think he complements the others. Crevier actually is under rated as he has descent skill and moves well
Get excited to see Samuelson the tall big defender when we play Buffalo . |

Seth Jones standing in the neutral zone on power play was an interesting strategy |

I believe those prospects need to make significant jump in development. Except Galvas whom like Regula I forgot. With Galvas I want to see him withstand the physical beating an entire NHL season. I believe that he is capable right now playing NHL
I Phillips needs to take a step defensively like Regula did last season. A streak of nasty or regularly using his siize and strength to pin opponents along boards would be a part of his defensive improvement Phillips is not naturally physical in his defensive performance. A natural athlete whose skating and slapshot are good, he could tease and be included in a trade..Let us see how he develops this season. |

They might hold on to S Jones, looking for the rght time.to trade him. A one for one trade? As well I imagine there are other scenarios for Jones. He represents experience although he doesn't cover well, he can be beat despite hjs size and skating. Everyone cries about his salary and he has to be moved. I understand and figure that is realistic to assume. I have no clue how or when KD acts on moving S Jones. I am sure he has thought about it. Really depends a lot on the ascension of kids and the team to a higher level. |

Great breakdown, Thanks!
Good thing all are still really young (Sam Rinzel, Nolan Allan and Taige Harding), their development curves might take a bit longer, but let's hope down the road we have a few more prospects that can make the NHL as well.
It will be interesting to see how they go this year, hoping they can make the world juniors so we can see them against the best in the world in their age class.

If the crystal ball is still open, how do you see the forward prospects in the future? |

Just a question for all the posters out there. Out of all of the pre-season waiver wire players that were exposed, was there one you thought we should have taken a chance on?
I realize we claimed Tinordi, and I have been happy with him in the first two games.
Was there another defenseman / forward / goalie you think we should have gone for and why?
I was curious if Klim Kostin or Gabriel Vilardi would have been worthy of picking up?

I like KD stockpiling these compete forwards and most of them skate well which is important. I have been saying fir a couple years that the NHL Blackhawks might turnnout having hard to play against bottom six, even Lines 2-4. I have also been dreaming that the blueline crew would become a deep skilled puck moving group. That along with the forwards he has targeted now seems to be KD's objectives
I would like to see how far up the lines NHL level the Notre Dame kid and Slavin could move. Probably could be used in #2 line but more suited for bottom lines. Teply ....if only he could skate better. Reichel has been able to make plays and score in lower leagues and I expect he will eventually contribute as a solid second line offensive player. He is only 20 and he has worked out.to become stronger. Wiz said he needs another year development. I concur.
My way of thinking is to try darn hard to move any picks or players for higher picks. Only because it is all about acquiring top end talent. That talent comes most logical and appropriately with the tier I entry draft choices.
It may.very well be too difficult to trade up to the earliest round one selections. But where else do you acquire top end talent to replace a Kane, Toews, DeBrincat. You may eventually sign a free agent but don't count on it. Drafting lots of kids is nice to hope you get lucky but realisticly just need to try to have two tier I prospects each draft.
The kid (a center) from Denver imght make the NHL whereas McLaughlin apparently falls short. |
