The Panthers' power play hasn't set the ice on fire yet, but I like where it's going. No more sitting on the perimeter with extremely predictable shots and passes through traffic. There's a much bigger emphasis on the inside game near the net and they clearly ramped the aggressiveness up to "11." I like where this is going and could be extremely lethal once they get the timing worked out and the accuracy of the redirects dialed in.
As Matt pointed out, the shut-down defense at the end of the game also appeared to be a big improvement.
Two big to-do's for Paul Maurice and already showing signs of progress after two games. I was a bit skeptical, but I like what I see. Maybe he is the guy.
Tkachuk is able to influence every facet of the game when he's on the ice and he's not only able to wreak havoc, but the attention he draws to himself means the opponents aren't as focused on his Panthers' linemates; I think this is going to produce tremendous dividends down the road. He's really elevated Panthers' aggressiveness. Looks like another big win for Zito.

Very different look from last season’s frantic damn the torpedoes attacking style. It was very fun to watch last season, but I can deal with them not having to come back from 2 or more down for (seemingly) half of their wins.
Matty is two for two at really pissing off the other team.

Great comments/insight by both Jimbo and Rats here. I totally agree! |

I love Tkachuk, but he putting a target on his back. I just hope he doesn't go on the IR list from a dirty hit. |

Reinhart off to his usual slow start. Blows a tire and then gets stoned on clearcut break |

I proposed a trade this summer. Ekblad for Brady Tkachuk. I would have built my core around these two. Also, Reinhart is soft, with no grit to his play. I would have thrown him in too and would of been below the salary cap. |
