Marner gets faceplanted into the boards, refs looking right at him, but yeah, that's a good clean hockey hit.

That rebound was not good - right into the danger zone and he got torched as a result.
- Cush29

my silver lining is that he was hoping a Leafs D would pick it up but at last it was not to be

Hit was already initiated when Marner tried to reverse but ended up making it worse. It was his own fault. If he hadn’t tried to reverse it would have been a side hit.

As much proof of this as Matthews leaving the Leafs, no?
- underhill14

It will be Matthews or McDavid, not both.

It’s the correct call by the refs.

Normally a penalty, but the Leafs were already on the powerplay, and the Leafs were Leafing Leafily and no Leafs team can be allowed to Leaf Leafingly.

I’m glad Sportsnet has the patience to stick with new talking heads.

Both Bieksa and Botterill were absolutely brutal when they started. I confess I was bloviating to have them poopcanned.

They both are now trying less to make grand pronouncements, and just telling us what they think.

I really enjoy them now.

I'm not disagreeing with you about Matthews either, I have a feeling he could leave too.

I don't trust, if Dubas is still here, he can get deals done with Matthews, Marner, JT and Nylander never mind trying to recruit McJesus. This team is going to be very different very soon.

When it comes to the Leafs dude, I feel like I got lobotomized. (No offense, hope you're well, but I think you get what I mean)

Even after seeing it slowed he said maybe. Still it’s Marners fault trying to cut back there.

Dubas signed Tavares - arguably the biggest/youngest UFA in league history.

Ya, that seemed more like a done deal to begin with to me, but I think what I meant is that he will have his hands full with 4 pending UFAs almost at the same time and he's had a few issues with RFA deals.

I watch a lot of hockey - a lot of other teams. You know when that happens to other teams, they blame the guy who laid the hit in 99.5% of the cases. What makes this one bad is that he pushed the head into the glass. That's a call _every_ time.

Edit: To be clear, there's no malice, but it's still boarding.

Just had a wonderful daddy moment.

I’ve coached my younger daughter for probably the last 6 years or so.

This year, I’m just a hockey dad (still coaching my older daughter).

Last night, the younger daughter played. At the end of every game with my kids, we talk in the car - what do you think you did well, what do you need to do better next game? We each answer.

Last night, I told her she is holding her lower hand too high on her stick. She’s a teenager, so she immediately told me I was wrong.

She had a practice today.

Over dinner, she told me she tried gripping her stick lower, and was roofing shots all practice - so much so that the coaches were in awe.

Who the frank is cutting onions in here?
