With GM Jorts Eichel having his best season in his career and recovering with his experimental surgery...is anybody going to point at Buffalo's management for denying him that surgery and potentially ruining his career? - AdamFrench

If by favourable rulings, you mean that the refs got all three calls right, then I agree,, Leafs were very fortunate that the refs followed the rule book - PatC80
I think the Leafs probably used up years of brutal rulings last night. No doubt, the league will remember this night in future rulings...

Giordano played one of the best games I have ever seen from a Leafs dman in 47 years - mr.sir
Gio, Sandin, Holl and Liljegren all very good. Hollowell hung in and played a good first game. Forwards did their jobs and none of it matters if Murray doesn’t Play the way he does.

Is he healthy enough to contribute? - PatC80
I think so. He was finishing his conditioning stint and was going to have to clear waivers which is why they did the trade. He should be good for a period and a half

I thought the forwards were outworked for a lot of that game. The bottom-6 - and Kampf's line in particular - were sort of dominated. The Matthews line traded chances, but got hemmed in for some extended periods as did the Tavares line. I mean, I think Holmberg's line generated 1 shot - and he scored on it!
I recognize that playing without your three top defensemen - and we've talked quite a bit about how most teams don't really have much quality after the top 3 D-Men - is a massive crutch. I'd also tip my cap to Jersey - they are young, fast, dynamic, and playing with all the confidence in the world. But still . . Murray stole that game, regardless of the disallowed goals.

But we were only outshot by 15!
Devils have 4 strong lines. After the first where I thought the Leafs had the edge it really was played mostly in the Leafs end but there didn’t seem to be a lot of panic or the dumb mistakes we’ve seen in the past. The forwards weren’t able to sustain pressure but they were sound defensively.

This is probably fair. I didn't see a lot of bad giveaways or poor decisions that led to odd man rushes - most of the chances were generated by Jersey on their own, not by us handing it to them. As poor as Holl and Gio's numbers were last night, that was some solid old school defense - especially when you basically have 4 defensemen.

I never thought I would say this, but I was happy when Jordie Benn came back to start the 3rd period.
Yeah, that's where I am at now.. Happy to see Jordie Benn in the top 4.
