I agree with this but I think as we view games we need more context. It is just not putting up point vs better teams, it is how they play in that game vs how the team plays. Team play will drag player play. If the D gets caved in, that will affect the O, having Braun making outlet passes is going to be a bigger drag vs a better team. You also had the BJ's announcers referring to the Frost line as the #1 line, we know it really is the Cates line or is it, we don't have one is the real answer. What is also true, teams when preparing to play the Flyers, will match up vs the Frost line. I like that from a growth perspective, this year if both Frost and Tippett can keep taking small steps forward it will be really good for the team going forward, especially if they can add a real #1 line, at least to the point, where you could slot the Frost line and get better matchups. Even Cates, I feel he is a better winger, I think he would have more points being on wing but I am also happy he is learning center and becoming a better player, I get what torts see's, Cates is a very smart player. - wcorvette
You make some really good points. Next game against the Leafs, who is the Frost line going to be matched up against? Bunting/Matthews/Nylander or Marner/Taveras? I don't see either as a good match up. If the Flyers had a full or better lineup. Young players developing can see better matchups.

I like our young wingers Konency, Farabee and Tippett. Our defense I think is heading in a decent direction. I love Carter Hart. My concern is the center position. We need to improve the center position. - SuperSchennBros
I’m glad to hear your commentary on hart. I read a lot from fans who think he’s terrible and a main reason for our struggles. I don’t see it. I think he’s the real deal. |

Really bad decision to leave him in the AHL in November when the Flyers lost 10 games in a row playing Braun, Seeler and Ristolainen every night.
Braun and Risto now have combined for 0 points in 57 games. - Feanor
Brutally bad. Apparently, York only recently gained the ability he is showing since he has been called up.

He’s a first time regular and he’s coming along nicely. We should be happy. - SuperSchennBros
I’m also really excited to see frost playing like he is. Hope he can keep this up. |

I think sending him down really helped his game as a pro. - konalover711
Maybe they can try that with Noah Cates who is being used as a top 6 center but is scoring at a lower rate at ES than Nic Deslauriers.

Farabee, TK, Tippett, Cates and Frost, say they continue and get close to their ceilings.
Then you still have Laughton and lets say Allison can be a solid bottom six player. If Provy, Sanheim and York get close to their ceiling.
Harts can stay 915 save percentage plus.
If Coots is healthy, you really have a good top nine with a need on the top line, you have 1/2 the D with some options and a good goalie. There is a base of a really good team. You need Cutter to hit and they need to win the lottery or move up. They need to get max value for JVR and anyone else not mentioned above. They need to make both #1 picks in 2024 or use one to move up to get their guy.
There are possibilities, can CF be the one, current answer is no but the Flyers have possibilities.

He’s actually a really fast kid for his size. They’ll always be bumps in the road but for the most part, I have zero issue with Tippett. I’m more so pleasantly surprised. - SuperSchennBros

I think Allison is a 3rd line player now, but if he stays healthy, he can become a possible 2nd liner. This kid is constantly getting hurt, so fingers crossed.

It was crazy that so many Flyer fans on twitter spent all last season blaming TK for the state of the team. He's easily their best offensive player. - Feanor
I am not on Twitter, nor was I blaming TK for the state of the team last year.
However, during last season and the previous season, he had clearly regressed. Primarily, he became progressively easier to be separated from the puck and/or sealed off in board play. Also, too often, he would pass in situations where he had clear, un-pressured looks at the net.
This year, he is keeping his feet moving, is stronger on the puck and is shooting, mostly, when it is clear he has the better scoring opportunity.
I believe he and Farabee are very similar players. Last year, imo, Farabee was the better long-term projection. TK stepping up this year combined with Farabee's neck injury no longer makes that obvious.
Ultimately, I don't know if they need both of them. However, short-term, I don't believe there is any potential trading partner that would provide a better long-term asset (i.e., a top 5 pick). Hopefully, in three or four years, when, if things break right, the team is ready for the next step, perhaps they're able to trade one of them for a more strategic piece of the puzzle.

I can see it now... Flyers trade TK for a top-5 pick... manage to end up with the one dud at the top of the draft again.

Tippett has also looked good IMO, especially escaping that CBJ player near the blue line for his give-and-go goal.
Now we just need Farabee to get back on track and we may have something - black_francis
He will get there.
We see what he is capable of when he is healthy. Next year will be his year. Maybe q line of bee/frost/tk or tippet |

Ultimately,, they might not need both of them? Is that due to the Flyers surplus of young talented players?

Why did they start him on the 4th line and stop playing him in the 3rd? Is it a conditioning thing. You would think by now he would be used to coming back from injury.... |

Farabee is doing well at ES. He has just had no luck at all on the PP. - Feanor
Farabee is a nice depth player, but really nothing more than that. Those who are expecting Farabee to be a 30 goal scorer will be very disappointed, that is not what he is. Farabee will thrive on a 3rd line with Laughton and an occasional move up with injuries happen. Anything else, he is what he is. |

Ron Hextall as GM of the Flyers stated he never saw a player get worse by playing big minutes in the AHL. Why can't you and others just accept Tort's explanation that attitude wise (not physical or skill wise) York was not ready to play in the NHL at the start of the season, and that only after he got 20 games in the AHL playing big minutes and in all situations did he make the proper adjustments for him to be ready to contribute to the big club? I know some of you hate the Torts hiring, but can't you give Torts at least a little credit that he knows what he is doing when it comes to player development. Look how much better York, Tippet, Frost, Hart and Cates are playing under his guidance. Even Risto is playing better! Geez! |

Here we go again. Farabee has had two seasons in a row scoring at a 20 goal pace on bad teams. Play him with a strong quality playmaking center and 30 goals is not a stretch or a long way away. He absolutely has 30 goal ability and talent. I'm not sure what your definition of a depth player is but he doesn't fit mine. He is a top 6 winger in this league. |

That's fine, bookmark it as long as when I am proven right you acknowledge it! Everyone was so gung-ho about Farabee when he was drafted and made the team, but what has has shown so far is he is nothing more than an nice player, he is not an all-star and IMO will never be a top scoring winger in this league. |
