I predict Philly wins the draft lottery and Bedard refuses to play there. Terrible team, worse GM, terrible fans, no future there.
- Sams_Dog

I would not be shocked at all if a kid refused to play for this circus franchise . The kids getting drafted this year will have been 6 or 7 years old the last time the Flyers were relevant and it’s been nothing but a carousel of GMs and coaches since.

Fletcher said the other day that Couturier is doing really well. Expect him to be ruled out for the 23/24 season in a couple of weeks.

Guy came back and was immediately injured again. I’d really hope they would ease him back and take a very cautious route.

He’s played with some combination of Tippett JVR Bellows Macewen Farabee , which has a pretty good mix of skill guys for what this roster currently has . That’s certainly an upgrade over the beginning of the season

Frost is clearly a more effective player when playing with skilled linemates on a line that actually has the puck some.

But they’re only 9 points out of a wild card spot.

That would be better than what will actually happen...at least then they could trade him for a super haul or he could sit out until they get what they want.

Most likely they will draft 6-7 and get a player who takes 3 years before they start to develop in the NHL only for them to finally show rookie promise when they are 27.

That's the real problem w/ Farabee so far. He hasn't come close to playing 82-games.

When he's healthy he's done pretty well.

- Tomahawk

farabee is a player i keep. agree though, his health down the road will be a concern.

100%, but that’s also why you can’t run 12 young forwards out there. You need to sprinkle in a few vets to help mature the youth on the team. JVR has been very good all year when healthy and he is playing great right now. Frost looks so much more confident it’s ridiculous. The line is also not bad defensively which is nice.

Yeah, but all of these guys are first line players on the majority of teams in this league.
- MBFlyerfan

They are for the Flyers, that's for sure. My point is if you want to be a true contender in this league, you need players that produce at this level on your 2nd line.

It wouldn't matter with Connor McDavid either.

Well sure, by McDavid is a generational player, Keller is an all-star player. They are not at the same level.

Oh dear god. So they’re playing on the second line on a deep team, so you believe them to be second line players? Is this what I’m reading? You forgot Mr. Career Second Liner Malkin.
- SuperSchennBros

Your missing the point. My point again is if you want to be a true contender in this league, this is the caliber of player you need on your 2nd line. Yes, all these players would be top line players on teams like the Flyers, but that is not the point I am trying to make.

How many coaches have they had since the 2010 cup run?

How many GMs?

How does that rate in the NHL?

I would venture to guess we have not fired more coaches or GMs than maybe 30% of the teams in the league.

I believe your point is not valid.

Any hockey player would love to play in a big market. This is a nonissue.

The point is Frost was not *ready* to play in the top 6 at the start of the season. He was not doing what he needed to do to earn that spot on the team. Just like York needed to be sent down to the Phantoms to gain confidence in his ability to make plays and even dominate a game. Frost is playing better now and its enough for Torts to now put him into more and more situations. If Frost played with the same vigor as Noah Cates from the start of the season, I am sure Torts would have been looking for him as he does Cates. I don't know why this so hard to see.

I mean, we are not coaches. We do not see these players practicing and we are not installing systems and trying to set a high standard as Torts is doing. I think he knows what he is doing in terms of player development and you can see the fruits of his coaching already in just over 30 games. TK is playing like a true leader on the team. Frost and Tippet are getting more consistent. York is most likely never going back to the Phantoms again. Cates is rapidly becoming an all-situation forward. And Torts said just yesterday he expects Braun and Seeler to play less because he wants to develop more young defenseman. This is exactly what we have all been asking for, so why are not celebrating this??

The average life of an NHL coach is roughly 2.5 years and an NHL GM roughly 4 years. Torts has historically had twice the tenure of an average NHL coach, except for his stint with Vancouver. However the Flyers are due for a new GM, and I personally would say long overdue!

No, they're first line players in the league period. You erroneously tried to use those players to try and support your opinion on Farabee.

Thank you for making my point. Different players are on different levels. Players develop differently and develop at different rates. Some players need AHL time, some don't some jump right in at a high level, some don't. On and on. What does that say about your comment that Keller plays with scrubs in the Frost conversation? It says that statement doesn't make much sense.

By he way, Keller doesn't play with scrubs. He regularly plays with Schmaltz, Chychrun and Gostisbehere.

Again, with Frost not playing with vigor and was not ready to play in the top 6. Again, with why people can't see something. Why not? Because Tortorella said so? LOL. Frost showed in a large chunk of games last season that he was ready to step forward and take a bigger chunk. Tortorella ignored that sample of games in the same way he ignored it for York. It was a mistake to send York down. He should've been with the Flyers the entire season. Tortorella is incorrectly using Cates. He is not a center. He does not carry the puck well nor is he a distributor of the puck. Cates strengths are as a forechecking winger and in the role of F1 on the forecheck. Crashing the net. He is scoring at a rate at 5 on 5 lower than players such as Deslauriers, Brown and Sedlak.
By the way, guess what player scores at the highest rate at 5 on 5 play for the Flyers? Joel Farabee

If we're not the coaches, then that does invalidate your unfounded opinions such as Frost deferring to teammates or having an attitude issue? Or is that only for opinions you disagree with? Why is it that you selectively reference coaches statements and ignore what is said that doesn't fit your narrative? He's done a terrible job with player development.

That path to the Stanley Cup that you said Fletcher put them on sure hit a dead end.
