I once did it to a guy for 11-12 minutes, and he survived.

Just gotta keep getting oxygen to the brain.

Edit: Let's not sugar coat it. He's not asleep, they put him in a coma

Sedation with intubation is normal. You're jumping to a big conclusion there.

It's not an unreasonable one, though, either.

That is actually not good news.

The vitals are normal due to the assisted breathing.

He is only alive because he has assisted breathing. They turn it off. Then…

- Sabretooth9

Not gonna jump to conclusions, other damage could have happened during CPR. just Pray for the Best

Disagree. And it didn't take the NHL an hour

https://www.dailymail.co....s-heart-problem-game.html

"The game was called off after 12 minutes of first period action and the Blues, who were supposed to fly to Las Vegas last night, have remained in Southern California."

- Hank Balling

There's a big difference between when the NFL actually made the decision and when they announced it. Remember, the Bills' equipment staff was cleaning up the sideline well before the announcement was made.

Long time reader almost never poster.

I just want to post some real medical information here. First off what I’m posting is based on years of being an emergency medicine physician.

I bet it is this what happened.
There is rare cause of the heart suddenly stopping is called “commotio cordis.” This happens when there is blunt force to chest at just the wrong time in the electrical impulse that causes the heart to beat (the electrical impulse is what an EKG is measuring). The fix is to shock heart (AED) as fast as possible and CPR is to keep blood circulating and hopefully perfuming the brain until the heart is beating on its own.

The blunt force that causes commotio cordis often comes from a hard object or ball hitting the chest, such as a baseball, a softball, or a hockey puck, but it can come from any type of blow. They often get up and take a couple steps and go down. Just like he did

As for stable vital signs now and being intubated (on ventilator) this is 100% possible as the heart can have been restarted and be beating strong now (being 24 year old athlete is a great thing for him). Now the question is whether or not his brain suffered any anoxic brain injury. Only time will tell how the brain is (hopefully he received high quality CPR and the brain kept getting oxygen).

As for why it took so long for ambulance to leave stadium, that is the right thing as want to do as much as possible before on the road.

Anyhow, please try to not jump to a conclusions or create any rumors. Trust only real medical people and news.

Side note: I enjoy coming here to learn Sabres news and rumors but many why so much useless attacks on here.

(Back to stalking on here and not posting)

Go Sabres. Go Bills. Most importantly right now go Damar.

What exactly do you think sedation is? It's a coma. Just like general anesthesia is a coma. They all use the same drug, Propofol. People just like to tap dance around it is all.

Doesn’t seem like they will
Probably just taking awhile to find all the hotel rooms they need

I stopped watching the coverage awhile ago
Needed to distract myself as opposed to wallow in it- tough night
Hopefully we get good news tomorrow

Jeremy Renner is in critical but stable condition with blunt force trauma to the chest.

Hamlin is in critical condition

Obviously the stable is more positive have they made this update for Hamlin too?

Huh?

I thought Renner lost a ton of blood from his leg? He had a chest injury too?

Blunt chest trauma.

Thats why I mentioned it. Seems like Hamlin was hit in the chest too but not sure if that was the reason. The hit looked like the helmet hit him right where his heart is.
