I have never seen football players openly sobbing. How many times do you think they have seen a teammate die on the field then have CPR and AED used to bring them back to life? I bet it is traumatizing to those players. I was shook last night and still am and I am just a fan. - hehateme
As tragic and traumatizing as it is. And it is really tragic, theres no getting around that.
But there is also no getting around the only thing that is certain in life.
The team/league should take all the time it needs to get through this but you cannot just stop the world because of it. It took 2 weeks for the NFL to return after 9/11. That's your time limit if you think the league should be put on hold.

Agreed, a whole different experience when you see something like that unfold in front of your eyes. Not a easy thing for people to just put aside. - Buff36

And making the tough call that you don’t want your players in a vulnerable spot because they can’t focus or give it their all is being a leader - sbroads24

9/11 was a National Tragedy - Nightmare Fuel
Sure, but this was a highly personal tragedy and in some ways that is far worse for someone who puts their body on the line. They watched their brother possibly dying on the field. Worse, they might be starting to question themselves about their own safety in the game.

That's it right there. Mental part is very big here.

Because some might need some serious counseling for a while.
Some guys might need more than 6 days to decide if they want to do this anymore. Especially veterans who are well off and have made their money. - sbroads24
Counter argument is that you can say that for the entire league. The NFL is a close-knit fraternity. Tee Higgins is pretty beat up about this, understandably, and at least some of those players close to him, even those not involved in this game have to be thinking "what if that were me?".
Different players will respond differently. Some will want to stop and reflect, as you say. Others will want to keep playing to keep their minds off it. Neither is a wrong answer.

I’m not advocating for them to pack up and quit. I’m simply saying it’s an option and completely understandable one
well no matter what the bills will be back on the field sunday
unless they forfeit vs the pats
the nfl will have to make a decision on last nights game by thursday IMO - homiedclown
Sounds like we're not going to get an update on his condition today. Trying not to read too much into that. I think everything is on hold until they know.
