He does have a 5.25m cap hit to, and 1 more year left. Big hit if it doesn't work - Buff36
They have more than enough space to absorb that, though. If the Sabres felt he would be an upgrade, that shouldn't be the reason.

Anyone who claims him needs to understand where he is in his recovery process. A claim will signify positive progression.
Vrana is a good player and can be an exceptionally useful, free forward. - TheSabresTaco
Sure, but like you said you better be sure. |

Why, if he relapses and he isn't exactly the healthiest player that's a waste of 5m that could be used some where else. And he hasn't played much hockey since 2019. |

How could you be sure of anything in the waiver claim window? I don't believe they are allowed to talk to him during that period.

Then is it worth it, a lot of money to tie up if it doesn't. Kid hasn't played much hockey since 2019 |

You could probably terminate his contract with no issue. |

You knew they wouldn't take the risk. Would also force a Mitts move, which they simply seem unwilling to do. Guy is the next Tage, right? |

Just answering another poster. Doubt they do anything this year. |

All true, but I see them being a floor team again next year. I still don't see them being big shoppers because of the amount of kids that they are going to have to pay 2 - 4 years from now. While this is an expensive lottery ticket, the risk is low and the payoff could be huge. I'd rather see them do this than get another cap dump.

Sabres aren't gonna need a Cap Dump next year. But what other move are you making to make room for him. |

Right, a Cozens extension means we won't be talking about the floor again for a long time.

A Cozens extension say at 7 mil leaves them about several mil below the floor next year…..
still don’t think he gets over 7.
I’d put him about 6 at a bridge deal. |

You could sign 2.5 bears with that 5 million.
I like your idea of Murphy from chicago with that $.
Maybe get them to eat 1 million per year? |

Can't leave off the second part of that....with 15 players signed.

With 1-3 more ELC contracts coming most likely.
So right at the cap floor with full roster. |

Does power also get an extension this offseason?
The extension will kick in after next season though.
The $ is gonna get eaten up quickly with okposo and girgs about to hit ufa status.
You know they will be back..... |

IMO. Okposo would be great as Pres of Hockey Ops/Player Personnel.
He gets to stay around the team for leadership and whatnot and his spot gets opened up for one of the prospects. |

I don't know if they will need a cap dump or not next year. Probably not. There are 3 or 4 moves that they could easily make. Will they? That's another question.

Yeah, I would say by the time the 23 are rostered they will be 3 or 4m over the floor next year, close to the floor but unless something drastic happens they shouldn't need a cap dump. |

If I’m the Sabres I try and extend him but if I’m Power I don’t even talk about it this year.
I’d expect him to make a jump next season and be pretty damn elite |

jerk him around... claim him talk to him see where he is at and if he is a question waive him.. that wouldn't mess with his addiction |

Correct. Currently Power is a good d-man. He would not be in line for a big Payday currently. He has zero reason to sign any offer before next year. |

I'd say comfortably over. If they bridge Cozens and walk from all their UFA's, then they'd have to do something.
Hope they don't use that as an excuse to overpay the senior citizens. |

Nobody is talking about a cap dump though.
Talking about get actual useful players.
This team still has room for some pretty decent improvements.
It’s no secret that teams are line matching when the Sabres are on the road to play against the Cozens line and the Mitts line.
