Karine Hains: In Hainsight: Homecoming Wasn't the Answer Several mothers’ touches weren’t enough to get the Habs out of their current predicament and nor was a return to the Bell Centre where a lackluster display led to yet another uninspired defeat.

Rangers have certainly have had their own issues with high picks developing, but sure looks like Juraj Slafkovsky could use a little AHL seasoning

He could.

The problem isn't 100% his fault, outside the Suzuki line the offense is poop. He was having good moments before Monahan got injured but now eveything is falling apart.

Our AHL team is literrally a player cemetary, nobody that ever comes up from Laval has a carreer in the NHL

Can't remember the last guy who played on our AHL team for at least a few months that ended up being a NHL regular.

It would be an interesting article, are star NHL players still being made in the AHL? Or has it become a pool of future bottom 6 players.

I don't know, I'm trying to think of current star players who spent some time in the AHL.

Jason Robertson spent a season there.

So did Moritz Seider.

Kucherov.

I'm sure a few great goaltenders did.

It's probably not that black or white.

"disorganized and lost in their own zone with missed defensive coverage" this goes hand in hand with starting that many rookie d-men.

Slav getting burned for a shorty is also a learning experience. Keep playing him.

Young club, focused on development......expect to see mistakes.

different for goalies imo.
with the cap management, having kids on entry level contracts is a tough thing to say no to.

The good ones probably spend less time in the AHL that's for sure.

Gone are the days of the Detroit Red Wings letting their young guys grow in the AHL for 5 years until they get a crack at the NHL.

Weird how that ended the moment they stopped drafting well.

We can't sign vets to play on our 3rd line because of the cap?

We aren't finding steals in the 7th round anymore?

We now play in the superior conference?

Kadri and Nylander both spent about 75 games playing for the Marlies.
It's rare an 18 year old can come into the league and be a good player. What's the rush?
Your ruined KK by rushing him, why not send the kid down and let him get better?

KK ruined KK by not being that good.

The only thing the Habs did wrong was draft him too early.

The AHL is populated with players that believe the way up to NHL is by the big hit. Smoking the #1 overall will be a prize far too many will seek.

Laval is a poop show......

Keep Slav with the Habs, where you can teach him, and help him best. He will be fine...

Yep, KK should have been a second round pick.....and he is middle six at best. Thank God Carolina wanted retribution......

He was ranked around 12th in his draft year.

Bergevin reached because he wanted a centre.

That's the whole story.

He's not a terrible player.

Just not one that was supposed to be drafted this early.
