Bill, do you know if Brink had the same hip surgery that Marchand and McAvoy of the Bruins had? If so, Brink can really start to show us what he can do given both the players mentioned say they are playing pain-free for the first time in many, many years and Marchand especially is skating better than I have ever seen him skate.

Brink had a torn labrum. He's never been a dynamic skater but gets from point A to point B and is smart player.

And it looks like that is what Marchand got also: double hip arthroscopy and labral repair. Hopefully we might see Brink actually skating better, though I agree that is not his strong point.

Wonder what day they will care as much about the present, as they do maintaining the past.

Excellent interview today with Torts. If you want to understand what he is trying to do with the defenseman this is the interview to understand it. For all those Risto haters, listen to what Torts says about his play today.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't. Fail to acknowledge his 89th birthday and it's "what an outrage!" Acknowledge what would have been his 90th birthday it's "when will they care as much about the present as they do maintaining the past?"

Risto is the great enigma. There's a world class athlete in there, but he's generally buried behind one of the lowest hockey IQs I've seen in years. I'll be watching tonight and very glad to get you guys on a back to back. If Torts can't fix him he can't be fixed.

I didn’t watch the interview but I know what I see. Ristolainen isn’t making or breaking this defense. He’s no more a liability than the guy he’s paired with. I have zero issue with how Risto is being used or what they’re trying to do with him.

Anything Tortorella said in an interview today concerning Ristolainen is completely irrelevant. I'm not sure what it takes to get through to realize what Tortotorella does. He tries to manipulate with the press and with interviews. It's used car salesman BS. The evidence of what Ristolainen is as a player is readily available and public knowledge. Nothing Tortorella says in an interview changes that.

Ristolainen has the tools to be a top defenseman from the neck down. If you took an MRI of his brain. It would show a picture of a brick.

Not that I take anything EK posts on here as anything other than clickbait, but would the Leafs take Chyckrin for Nylander and Sandin. And if so, would they be interested in Provy for that cost?

Attard a healthy scratch with the Phantoms? Guess he really wasn't ready for NHL duties after all.

I'm curious about all those healthy scratches, including Wisdom, and also Cates as an AHL 4th liner. Where are we at with the prospects.
I'm with Torts: everything this year is about figuring out who we want to keep going forward and jettisoning the rest.

Well said, Bill! Personally, would love the “ wear the heart in my sleeve” Mr Snider to the current regime any friggin day! At least we knew what to expect and knew they Flyers were going to be relevant every year!

Flyers have to Flyer. The fly in the ointment is that you just can't jettison players. The hole the Flyers have put themselves in is going to be difficult and costly to get out of.
