I understand your pain fully. I'm saying the same thing with the Blues. I don't think a full rebuild is needed. Just these teams would be better served having a crummy year and adding some high end talent to the roster.

Completely Agree. And penalties created because their lack of speed. Oh and then just foolish penalties.

Adding to the burn is that most of the guys you’d think to move are on deals that can’t be moved, save for eating a lot of money (upwards of $2+M a year for Dutchy, Johansen) or are guys you would rather not move from that blueline.

Saros represents the only possible big return, and goalies rarely bring back 1st Rounders at the deadline. And even then, you’re looking at a contenders 1st. In 2024’s draft, 20 slots is a swing between a class of player like Alexander Zetterberg vs. Paul Mayer. Saros will get a 1st+B Level Prospect in the offseason, and handing the reigns to Askarov likely signals the change in short-mid term team building philosophy.

It is at least a year or two (but taking off the fan glasses probably several more) past the time when Poile needs to move on up in management (team president?) to get him out of the day to day operations or for him to retire. We would not be where we are without Poile, but we also might have a championship with a different personnel manager making different choices. He has been a force in the NHL for a longtime and his longevity is incredible. But, it is time someone else decided how this team should shape out.

Hynes should also be on the way out. I feel like his system is killing any talent that we bring in. As Clay said, we're very average. We've been on a steady decline since 2017 but even during that year, everything just lined up for us. There were cracks and issues that become much worse in the following years.

I still really like Forsberg and think he could've been a really great player if he were on the Avs for instance. But our talent can't escape our system of play. I think the Tolvanen fiasco is further proof of this.

Carrier is out possibly 6 weeks for his manly man poor decision, I'm sure he got his bell wrung. Standing up for teammates is a tricky task and ultimately he hurt his team.
