I dont understand the thought process of people thinking they’d make a deal without agreeing on an extension with Kane. If they can’t they don’t make the trade
Kane isn’t a rental for the NYR - Slimtj100

Sure. Why not. The 6th d could be a problem. Marc Staal was a below average NHLer when the Rangers traded him originally. They love that kind of player. Makes total sense. Not to me, but to the brass. |

Staal playing what is probably his last year in NHL for former team and making another playoff run as a 3rd pairing dman getting about 12-15min a game, and a ton of experience.....IDK wouldn't be worst decision in the world.

Here is the Meier rumor rrentz (may be someone else) brought up. Whoever they get, if they’re giving up numerous assets needs to come with an extension
Kane says he’d like that in this article

the only thing I see about Marc Staal on twitter is Leafs fans whining about a hit he threw last night

Can't wait for the incessant female doging about how slow he is and how many goals/wins it costs us.
I simply don't understand this obsession with trying to stick a top 4 defenseman on our 3rd pair at any cost. Harpur is far from the next coming of Lidstrom, I get it. But, I have yet to see him directly cost us a game. It is only common sense that your 5th and 6th dmen will be somewhat flawed. It's the same for every other team. We simply don't have cap space to spend here. |

How I think of it, the better the player, the more depth you have. For example, let's hope not but what if Miller or Lindgren got injured and all of sudden Marc Staal or Ben Harpur has to play top 4 minutes. With Lindgren that might be more plausible given how hard he plays every game. Guy never quits. But he takes a beating.
Edit: Rangers are projected to 5.3 million at the deadline. Gavrikov is on an expiring deal at 2.8 million. That will be prorated. They have the money for that type of player this year. |

The key is not giving up a first rder tho for a dman. We have a good enough top 5 where we shouldn’t feel the need to do that. I’d offer a 2nd and Zac Jones for someone’s rental until someone says yes.
