Hajek or Jones and the worse pick of our 2 first rounders will be well worth it. Gavrikov is a warrior. On the Columbus team he is first pairing, but with us he will be on the 3rd pairing with Schneider. If anything happened to Lindgren or another of our top 4 D, he could easily slide up. Big upgrade over Harpur and good depth for a long playoff run.
This is our guy--- this should be our trade target...

Leschyshyn looks like Rooney 2.0

Good on faceoffs, good speed and hustle. Lets give him time and see if he can dent the scoresheet!

Remember, he is a rental. If they go this route, make Columbus eat half the $2.8 million salary to free up even more space for additional moves. But it is a high price to pay and several teams will be in on him.

I understand that he will be an UFA at the conclusion of the season. However, depending on his play here with the team, I could see him re-signing in NY so I wouldn't classify him as simply a rental.

A 3rd pairing LD to pair with Schneider like a Gavrikov should be our 2nd trade deadline priority position to target, until we can initially acquire under the cap a RH "shoot first" top six scoring sniper for RW. Word I last saw had 4 to 7 teams contacted the BJ's to some talks extent level on the price for Gavrikov. The question is if at least any of those 4 minimum alone were indeed very serious interested buyers for him, which would result in a bidder's war.

Our 1st round picks, upper prospects, or more will be first needed as trade bait to acquire a top 6 RW goal scorer, & be cap compliant should we also need that trade partner to retain some cap without needing a third team involved.

Injuries are part of the game. You cannot overpay in exchange for close to, or an equal as insurance in this case should our best defensive d'man in Lindgren (also our closest top 4D in comparison to Gavrikov), were to suffer a serious injury closer to the postseason or during it.

Any ranked Cup contender would love to acquire a close or equal replacement as insurance in the event should a top player of some role at a specific position suddenly suffer a serious late season or postseason injury. Needs for roster holes must be filled first instead by the deadline prior to acquiring surplus at already sufficiently enough for now filled roster spots.

He be “our” 3rd pairing dman, but he’s a very good defensive defenseman. I say pass on the 1st round pick also, but I’d be willing to do a 2nd/3rd and Jones. I doubt that gets it done though, someone will give them a 1st for him.

I doubt that would be enough compensation to acquire Gavrikov, given at least word I saw & mentioned above in that at least 4 to 7 teams had contacted the BJ's to some talks extent level on their price wanted for him.

Lindgren is the ultimate warrior, but remember last year in the playoffs he was playing through serious pain, I really thought last night he got hurt bad at first

I think a guy like Gavrikov is much more likely than Kane, I've always believed they'll acquire a couple of pieces at the deadline and not a big fish, and he certainly seems like the kind of guy they'd target

I have no idea of the compensation, but we shall see

they have their own first, Dallas first, their own second, and Colorado's 3rd.

I think all of those picks will be in play

I much rather them acquire a player like gavrikov and a lower tier winger than blowing their load on Kane

Agreed.
With a current contract at $4M/yr. I don't know that we could resign Gavrikov. So, I don't know that I'd spend a 1st on him like other teams might. Do they also have that winger we want? Maybe a 1st + wouldn't be so bad if we got a package return.

I'm surprised no one has yet mentioned...
I don't think the Blue Jackets President will be eager to trade him to us, or give us a decent deal

Why? It's not like we are the only thing standing between the 2nd to last place team and the playoffs.

Haven't been here for a while...your'e welcome!

So what is consensus with Laf? It's not looking good. Chytil, Kakko, and now Kravs all how shown flashes, and now they have seemed to cement their place in the NHL (Kravs not just yet), but Laf looks lost. Is it time to make a trade, or is his stock so low that it's not even worth trading him?

Hey Ryan!

I think his stock is too low at the moment. Not only that, I think it's definitely too early to give up on him. He may never become the stud he hoped for at 1OA, but he can still put it together and be a solid NHL player, IMO.

I'd be surprise if they traded him before the deadline, but at the draft I think its becoming distinct possibility

I agree. Can’t trade him out of frustration which is all this would be.

Chytil and Krav looked good together.

And no on a defenseman. Forward is a priority.

Harpur, for the last 2 weeks was bad. Last night he was not. I want no part of him as the 6th D in playoff series.

Can’t trade him. Value is too low and he’s too young. Look at zib, jt miller and even chytl kakko to a certain extent. It takes some time. This off-season is crucial for him to fix his issues

I was saying the same last night. Excited to see them grow together.
