Keep Mayfield (maybe) and Parise.
All the others get gift bags. |

Yea but Mayfield is going to want to get paid, rather find a cheap replacement and Parise may get another 1 year league minimum |

I agree. They won't be able to afford Mayfield and after watching him this year I hope they don't have the money for him |

Hence the maybe.
Lou seems to be able to convince Isle’s veteran D to sign for less than market value. If Mayfield is willing to take a couple more years at under 3 per, then I’m happy to keep him.
Parise does everything a third liner should, and then some. If he’s willing to stay for another year for under 1.5, then I keep him too.

Parise I see staying, Mayfield I think is gone and varly I'd love to keep cheap but he can still be a starter |

Dare say that Marchand didn’t get his daily dose of Solomon Gundy this morning. |

I’d be open to keeping Varlamov as well, but I just can’t see him taking the necessary pay cut. |

Nope and that 5 million will be needed for upgrades at wing or d |

Between Varlamov and Bailey that’s like 10 million being unnecessarily spent imo. I’d like to see them get a cheaper serviceable backup and use that remaining money along with Baileys money and sign a top six winger who’s a UFA (if it’s out there). |

Lou has left the Isles with a bubble team for the present season and an empty prospect cupboard. I'm not trolling you, I'm just having flashbacks of exactly what Uncle Lou did to NJ on his way out. Took us a decade + to get back to even a semblance of competitiveness. Hopefully you guys can recover quicker, because being a fan of a post-Lamoriello-era hockey team is painful and a leading cause of alcoholism. |

I get varlamovs salary sucks but I don’t see how anyone can’t see if we didn’t have him you could definitely subtract at least 6-10 points from where we are in the standings. I’m not against trading him at all but this team has to start playing defense and stop leaning so heavily on it’s goaltenders. Is there a cheaper tender that can get close to his level of play? Maybe but the point remains the same. |

We’re Islander fans. We’ve been alcoholics for over twenty years and have moved onto heavy drugs right after the Horvat trade. |

Totally agree about stolen pts. But you shouldn’t be rolling a 5 milly backup. If D is the problem then address it. A healthy Sorokin is about as good as it gets in this league.

We wouldn’t even have a chance without stellar goaltending. Even with them our chances are at best remote of making the playoffs this season. Sorokin is incredible but we can’t drop points every time someone else plays net and can’t stand on their head. Not really sure how we fix the D with zero assets besides internally? Have to hope one of these kids rises to the occasion that’s all we got.
I think everyone has forgotten about this teams issues since the Horvat trade and thinks we’re some NHL powerhouse now sitting outside the wildcard with every team in front of us having games in hand. |
